She smiled wryly. "Gee, thanks." She brushed her wet hair out of her face. "Let's go, then."

"No-no problem, miss...?" He glanced over his shoulder at her, realizing neither one of them knew the other person's name. "I-I'm Reuben, Reuben Rier."

"Kara," she said, the fact that she lacked to offer a last name very obvious.

"I...er...s-see," he said, blinking slowly. "It-it's nice to meet you Kara," he continued, giving her a half smile.

"Yeah, you too." She gave him a wry smile. "Can we get out of the rain now?"

He gave her a nervous chuckle. "R-right. Yeah, tha-that's a good idea," he said, before he quickly set off. He could feel the rain chilling him to the bones, causing him to shudder a bit.

Kara followed him at a safe distance, just in case.

Reuben glanced over his shoulder, finding it weird that she seemed so hesitant around him. "Er...if-if you don't hurry up, we'll get even colder being outside for too long," he called back.

"Then pick up the pace," Kara said. "I'll keep up."

He pressed his lips together into a thin line, before grudgingly trusting her and picking up his pace. He hoped that this wasn't all a trick and she was planning and running away as soon as he looked ahead.

Kara kept the same distance behind him, not a step closer or farther behind. "How far?" she asked through chattering teeth.

"Not much further," he said, glancing over his shoulder. "We should be there in a couple of seconds." He rubbed his arms, shivering a bit.

Kara pulled her sleeves down over her hands. She was nervous about meeting other people, of being around them. What if she hurt someone?

When they got to the opening, he hesitated for a moment, before turning to her. "Er..listen, the people in here can come off to be a bit...difficult. They're not used to seeing new people entering in here," he said, wincing a bit.

"I can handle difficult," she said, giving a wry smile.

He rubbed the back of his neck, still looking hesitant, despite her conviction. "I dunno, they're a bit odd too." He sounded as if he was regretting bringing her here, as if trying to deter her.

She just gave him a flat look and didn't say anything.

"N-no, I'm being serious. I just don't want you to get scared about these people, I don't blame you if you are, I was a b-bit scared when I came here," he said, giving her a weak smile, rubbing his hands together as if he was washing them.

"Can we just go inside already, before my a** freezes off?" Kara said.

"O-oh, of course, er...I mean..." He blinked, confused, suddenly realizing his hand was on the doorknob. He sighed, hating on compliant he was to others. "Fine, alright, i-if you say so." He slowly opened the door, before walking in.
