Nonie finished and stood back up. When she saw the cops, she stiffened a little in worry, but tried not to let it show. She looked at Austin's wound and blinked. "Oh! Are there paramedics?" She asked. She looked at Brett. "You should go get checked. I'm sure they'll do much better than me." She said with a slightly nervous chuckle, glancing at the cops again. "That and I-I think I should go." She mumbled
Brett limped over to the paramedics, one of the carefully picked up. "Nonie, thank you" Brett cringed from the pain but forced a smile. Brett doesn't know what Nonie is going through and wonders why she feels so scared around the police. Austin sat in the ambulance taking deep breaths.
"I'm going to bleed out." Austin looked at Brett then down at her leg, "Oh God! You'r going to die and I am going to die." Austin panicked, holding his arm. Brett couldn't stop laughing at him. "Denial is the first stage!" Austin cried.

Nonie followed them both. If she stayed close, she didn't feel as afraid. Nonie watched the two of them now and couldn't help but giggle. She had a cute laugh really. "You two are so strange." She mumbled, but she was smiling. "I'm sure you aren't going to die. I've seen people live through much worse without such great help." She informed him. "You'll probably have a scar though." She admitted. But Nonie would prefer a scar to death. Of course, that was her own opinion. Who knew what Austin thought.
The paramedics laid Brett down on a bed in the ambulance, they allowed Nonie and Austin to ride in it too. Brett couldn't talk they had a breathing mask on her and it made her feel stupid, she's not having a hard time breathing. They wouldn't let Brett take it off.
Austin sat next to Nonie, holding his arm. "Yea... I just don't do well with being shot, I guess." Austin looked down at his feet, only one other time had he been in a shoot out luckily him and none of his friends got hurt but he did see people die, It was spontaneous and out of no where just like today.

Nonie nodded. "Yeah, me either." She said. She was a bit nervous about being in the ambulance, but at least she was away from the police now. She glanced over at Brett, who looked so uncomfortable. But these people seemed like they knew what they were doing. Finally the car stopped, and they we're taken out to the hospital. Nonie hesitated once they entered the building. Should she just leave now? It wasn't like she could help or anything. And she didn't want to draw too much attention to herself.
The paramedics rolled Brett in to the hospital, leaving behind Austin. "I guess i'm not critical." Austin gave a weak smile to Nonie, he felt left behind and his arm really did hurt. "Are you staying?" Austin asked Nonie, he didn't know what to say but he didn't want to be left alone so he tried to start a conversation.

Nonie blinked at him, ripped from her thoughts. She didn't really know how to answer him. Should she stay or should she go? She did feel like she owed it to Brett. And she wanted to make sure she was out. So that just about decided it for her. Nonie inhaled and exhaled shakily before nodded. "Yeah, I guess so." She answered with a small smile, moving over to one of the seats in the waiting area and sitting. This definitely wasn't what she expected her day to end up like. She rubbed her temples and then glanced at Austin. Then she realized something. "Oh right! T-thanks for calling the police and all." She said gratefully, smiling sheepishly
Austin smiled, "It was- Your welcome... I have to say you two are really brave." Austin thought about how he wanted to be out of there like a coward he ran as fast as he could. 'But I did save Brett in the beginning' Austin reminded himself how he jumped and moved the gun and the bullet missed Brett. "I think the manger is going to have a heart attack, he was crying when he saw the store." Austin laughed changing the subject.

Nonie ducked her head and reached for her jacket to pull it up, but grasped nothing. Oh yeah, she have it to Brett. She smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of her neck. "Y-yeah... I feel bad. I threw a ton off stuff around, a-and I pushed over one of the shelves. It was mostly my mess really." Part of her felt guilty, but the other part was worried. Hopefully she wouldn't have to pay for it all. She didn't have nearly enough money to pay for all the damaged stuff. The small amount she did have she was trying to save up for food. "The manager won't, uh, make me pay for it, r-right? I mean- I don't have a lot of money..." She admitted
Austin laughed, "I don't even have enough money to pay all that back. No, he won't make you pay it all back." Austin looked at Nonie and blushed, 'She's actually cute for a homeless girl.' Austin rubbed the back of his neck and looked away back towards the hospital. "I wonder how Brett is?" Austin tried to get him mind on something else.

Nonie chuckled slightly with him. When he mentioned Brett, she looked over towards where she had been wheeled away. Worry colored her features. "I hope she's ok." Nonie mumbled. Then she realized that Austin had been hit too. "Oh, wait, what about you? You got shot too, right?" She glanced at his arm and then back at him. She may not have known him very well, but she was still worried. He seemed to be a (sort of) friend to Brett
"It doesn't hurt again more, honestly." Austin moved his hand that he held cotton in to pressure the small wound on his arm with. "I hope Brett is okay too, she's actually a good person you know." Austin felt bad for always picking on er and playing with her.

Nonie nodded. "She seems like it. She actually gave me some clothes a long while back. That's how we met. No one really does anything to help us. T-the homeless I mean. Nothing like that. It was... Different." She finished awkwardly, shrugging. Jeez, she seemed like such a weirdo. And why was she talking about all this?
"What is it like being homeless?" Austin asked, he stared at the sky it was dark out. The rain had stopped a little while after the man with the gun came into the store and now the stars scattered the sky. "I don't think I would do well Homeless." Austin admitted.

Nonie opened her mouth to reply, but then shut it. How could she explain it? "Well... It's hard, but not impossible." She began slowly. "I'm mean, I've been homeless all my life. I understand the do's and don'ts. The main thing is to keep yourself fed and survive. I mean, I have friends. One of the things I've learned is that if you help others, they'll help you. W-we don't get a lot of kindness. So if you're actually willing to share what you've got, it builds bonds and you end up making a sort of... Connection I guess. We trade a lot and watch out for each other. I mean sure, yeah, there's some bad homeless people who don't get along with anybody. You just kinda avoid them and befriend the people who'll scratch your back if you scratch theirs. It's unforgiving, so we gotta work together" she said with a shrug. Then she blinked as her own brain processed what she said. A blush creeped onto her face and she averted her head. "Oh wow. Umm... S-sorry about that. I kinda... I'm a rambler." She muttered apologetically
"No, no, I think I kind of understand. It sucks." Austin continued to look at the stars, "Atleast you have friends like Brett and me- kind of." Austin glanced at Nonie then looked back at the stars. He felt nervous for some reason, "I have never had a homeless friend before." Austin smiled.

Nonie glanced at him, surprised. A friend? She smiled uncertainly before chuckling. "Ah... W-well, I'm warning you now that we aren't the b-best friend to ask for money to borrow from." She joked slightly. I was odd. A friend. And not a homeless one.
"Yea, I have a job I got my own money." Austin smirked, then a nurse ran outside. "I am so sorry, we forgot to grab you! Lets check your arm." The nurse motioned for Austin into the hospital. "I guess it's bye for now." Austin smiled standing up.

Nonie only nodded and gave him a small smile. "Alright. Well, cya later then." She said awkwardly as he was led away. She hoped he was ok too. Over the past few days she had met these two, she was really getting protective. It was odd. But then again, they did seem nice.
(Should we do a time skip and Nonie falls asleep waiting for them?)
(Sure) Brett opened her eyes, the hospital was loud and her door wide open. Brett swung her feet over her bed, limped over to the door and closed it. Brett changed into her clothes and then wobbled over to the window and peeked out. Second floor, 'I can make that jump' Brett looked around then noticed a drain, "Or I could climb." Brett said to herself. Brett swung out the window grabbed the drain and slid down roughly landing on her leg. Pain washed over her and she sat on the ground for a few moments. 'Get up' Brett told herself and she did. The suckyest part about being in a gang is you can't sign in or out of hospitals, they can't have your record. Brett limped around the building.
