Caspian grabbed his now empty plate, carrying it to the sink, "No, not if I raised the animal. I'd get too attached. It would be like eating a friend. Like, if I decided one day to eat you," he giggled.

Tyrell gave him a horrified look. "Now that would be cannibalism," he pointed out.

He shrugged, "It happens. Friendalism to eat pets."

Tyrell grunted in reply. "Who said my prized animal was a pet? More like... property."

Cas narrowed his blue eyes and poked Tyrell's arm, "Mean. They have feelings too."

Tyrell patted his arm. "You'll understand the ways of the cruel world someday."

Cas crossed his arms and shook his head, "Nope. I refuse to look at the world that way. There are still good people out there."

Tyrell gave him an uncharacteristically sad smile. "If you say so."

"You think I'm naive for it," he sniffed, looking away, "Alasdair says the same thing all the time."

"Ever think maybe he's right?" Tyrell asked.

"Since when is optimism considered naïveté?" Caspian challenged, his eyes narrowing.

Tyrell met his gaze and then shrugged. "When it's extreme, I'd say it is."

"I see nothing wrong with looking at things in a brighter way," Cas sighed, his shoulders sagging, "It makes life worth living, ya know?"

Tyrell looked down at the ground. Yeah, it would make life worth living. Instead, Tyrell had to resort to other means to make it so he didn't feel like killing himself. Like partying, drinking, and sleeping around.

"But hey," Caspian reached out and clasped both of Tyrell's hands in his own, "Maybe I can help /you/ see the world that way." He smiled hopefully up at him.

"You think?" Tyrell asked, looking up and raising an eyebrow at him. "You'll have your work cut out for you."

"That's okay," he smirked, "Challenges are fun."

Tyrell patted his head, messing up his hair. "Good luck, kid."

Caspian smiled, eyes closed, and leaned into the touch, "Thank you. But I won't need luck. I'm just that good."

Tyrell laughed. "We'll see about that."
