Vampires are terrifying and dangerous creatures. Like werewolves, they are created by a demonic disease that is transferred through a bite. They have stone-cold skin, due to a still heart and no circulation, and are virtually indestructible. Vampire eyes naturally have a red glint to them, but this can usually be hidden. Even if a human saw it, they'd write it off as a trick of the light or their imagination. All vampires are alluring, strong, and fast. Out of all the Malum, vampires live the longest. They aren't immortal, but they live for a very long time. They don't exactly age, but when they've lived for a few hundred years, they pretty much just crumble to dust. Any vampire over 21 still looks twenty one. Adolescent vampires will keep growing until they're fully mature, so there's no danger of a vampire being stuck at age 6 or something. They drink the blood of humans usually, but other creature's blood is just as enjoyable to some. Most vampires drink only animal blood now, because the Protectors forbid them to hunt humans. Those who do are punished under Protector law. Most of them try to be kind and not harm humans, but the scent of humans blood is nearly irresistible. Vampires can get human blood from blood banks, but there is a limited supply regulated by the Protectors. They usually stay away from sunlight, because it drains their energy and, if it's strong enough, will burn them. They aren't going to incinerate, but if they stay out in the sun long enough, they might catch fire and burn to ash. The older a vampire is, the more sunlight effects them. They live in covens that are led by a single powerful vampire. Many covens are very selective and will only let powerful vampires join them. Vampires are especially strong in Spirit, and most have the ability to manipulate both the minds of mortals and, if they're strong, other magical creatures.
