"Ohhhh," she mockingly rubs her chin with her free hand, "That's a good idea--add that to my list of reasons to stay in my room. Redesigning reality and kicking some noob butt online,"
His smile wavered and it turned panicky. "Ah, I was just kidding, May," he hurriedly, stopping suddenly, his eyes wide. "Please don't go back into that room," he begged
May sticks her pink tongue out before pulling it back in, "I was joking Tommy," she rolls her eyes and tugs on his arm, "I... I won't go back for awhile."
He smiled weakly down at her, rubbing the back of his neck, embarrassed. "R-right. Sorry 'bout that," he apologized quickly, his cheeks brightening, "it's just...I worry about you when you're in there; it's like you're not even living life anymore..."
"Reality is a stupid game I don't enjoy," she replies, her steps almost turning into stomps, "That's why I go in there and play. Much easier than dealing with people that have no plot line that you can't put on an ignore list." she looks back up at him, her steps calming down, "But your not like them,"
He put a hand on her shoulder, his eyebrows pushing together. "May, that's not exactly a good way to live," he said placidly, trying to understand why she loved being cooped up all the time. "The whole point of life is to not understand people; it makes life more interesting if you don't know what'll happen."
"But not knowing also leads to bad things, I know that very well." May mutters under her breath, "--and living a lie is also not a good way to live. I'm not gonna pretend to like people and be around them if I don't want to." her blue eyes narrow, the dark iris' focusing on the pavement.
Tomás scratched his cheek, grimacing. "I don't mean that you should lie to other people," he slowly said, realizing that this was not going how he planned, "I just believe that you should spend more time outside than inside all the time."
"But you want me to go to school," she grabs a piece of her hair, and starts twisting it around her finger. "I don't mind going outside. It would be much better though... If everything was a game."
Tomás shook his head, refraining from sighing. "I can't say I understand where you're coming from," he slowly said, putting a hesitant hand on her shoulder, "though it would be nice if you'd come out more. A lot of people are worried about you..."
"And that once again leaves just you and your parents." she tilts her head to the side and starts walking again, her sneakers smacking against the pavement. Reaching back, she tries to push the thick strands off of her neck and over her shoulder, "Really Tommy--it doesn't matter to me if just three people care enough. That's all I need, and one day, you might understand why I am how I am."
Tomás sighed, he seemed to be doing that a lot around her. "I won't settle for just that; you can't only have three people who care about you," he said, torn being not wanting to push this subject. He crossed his arms and frowned. "That's just not right."
She purses her lips in an annoyed manner, "Tommy, I'm gonna start getting angry," she says in a warning voice, "and then, I'll just go back home and lock you out."
He put his hands up in surrender. "Alright, alright, I'll stop talking, just please don't go back in that horrid place," he begged, his eyebrows scrunching up together.
He grunted. "I dunno, my folks would be happy to see you," he said, frowning. Just the thought of her heading back to that room made his shoulders tighten up. He was worried about her, the idea of being inside all the time was not a good thing.
