"Systems all green--target is marked on screen. Commence emergency rescue," the red dot on the screen begins to flash, marked 'ALLY'. Another one was further away, and marked 'HOSTILE', giving the countdown time that they had till the Martian arrived.
Sky immediately began running towards the stranded robot, although it was pretty far. With a sinking feeling, she knew that she was going to be stuck in the flurry of fire within the field. "Target locked. Target approaching," she barked into the mouthpiece- why did their robot get shut down? They never, ever failed!
"Claws ready to pick up--don't stop as we approach; we won't have time to," Saber's voice takes an edge to it, as if they knew as well that both robots were going to be caught in the battle. "Hostile has released its cargo--it's a robot." the voice delivers the news calmly, but had gotten even softer. It would have been better if it was just a gunship... but a Martian robot was bad news.
Sky cursed softly under her breath. "Loading deck ready..." As they approached the stranded robot, the Martian robot came into view. The two students that had been stranded jumped onto the loading platform, the girl whimpering as she saw the Martian monstrosity. Skyler turned around immediately and began running towards the base... but the other robot had already began firing. Sky cursed again and cleared her throat. "Fire when ready, Saber."
"Safety, off--commencing interception firing in 3... 2...--" the robots arm that had been raised, the gun in hand, starts firing rapidly. The shots that had been aimed towards them blow up as Saber shoots a round that explodes on contact, so only a few of the enemies bullets get thru and slam into the ground, or graze the training bots armor. "Minimal damage, adjust direction ten degrees clockwise. We cannot enter hangar until the main force arrives to block pursuit,"
Sky turned sideways and moved towards where Saber told her to. "Have any idea when that'll be?" she asked in a rather stressed voice. She could see the other two students and they looked terrified. "They need to get here, fast."
Another long, drawn out sigh comes from Saber, "Taking in account all they have to do to start up the battle bots... clearing out the top level of the school... maybe five minutes or less." The missile compartments on the shoulders of the bot open, and Saber fires at the raging Martian. "I'm almost out of ammunition; we will need to stay away from the hostile. The only close combat weapon we have is the knife."
"That would not be wise." Saber says--the monotone voice seemed to want to endorse the idea, but didn't. "They seemed to have equipped this one with some kind of barrier. None of my shots so far have hit the plate--like they were absorbed." the teen moves an arm, picking up one of the targets from the earlier practice as they run by it. Hurling it at the enemy, the Martian swipes at it, and part of the object where the claw had touched disappears. "Barrier confirmed. Please avoid punching it."
Sky chuckled humorlessly and pushed a button. "Our shield is going up... 25 percent... 50 percent... 75 percent... shield is up. Commencing emergency maneuver." Sky started swerving around and zig-zagging so that the Martian craft couldn't hit them easily.
"Hostile is charging power as well," Saber says with a click of the tongue, "... feet--we need to get it on its back. Prepare for missile launch in minus 15 seconds--steady the pace,"
The last round of missiles shoot from the shoulders, and the ground underneath the pursuing Martian explodes, knocking it off its feet and on its back. The hangar for the battle bots open, and Saber mumbles, "Escape,"
Sky nodded even though she knew that Sabwr couldn't see we. She immediately tuned around and rushed towards the hangar, docking the robot and motioning to the people outside their robot to close and lock the building up tight. Still running on adrenaline, she opened te passenger pod and shut down her half of the robot. "Hurry! We've got to get underground!"
Sabers pod opens, the power shutting down as booted feet hit the metal ground. "rushing will only end up in someone getting hurt," the dark tint to the helmet lightened slightly in the dark lighting of the hangar.
"Or breaking you neck..." Saber waits for the others to rush down the stairs before walking down them. An explosion comes from behind them, and the masked teen sighs, "I even got it on its back for them..." comes an annoyed mumble.
Sky ushered the others into the bunker before entering herself. Te eyes of many frightened students looked up at them. She gave a grave smile and then sat on the floor, gazing at Saber. "Good work, partner."
