Taka stiffened, but didn't make a move that would give away his location. He met Karyu's gaze and nodded slightly. Yes, this man was a threat, and far too close to the village for his liking. They had no choice.

Withdrawing a shurikan, Kurya aimed carefully, and sent the blade flying with a flick of her wrist. The blade struck true, and sunk deep into the old man's flesh at the base of his skull. She watched as his body seized, and then collapsed without a sound. Karyu closed her eyes, letting out a ragged sigh, before steeling her features, and retreating back the way they came.

Taka dropped to the forest floor and walked over to the man. He started patting down the body, looking for anything of use or information.

Noticing that Taka was not following her, Karyu turned back towards the old man. Walking up beside him, she watched for a moment, "What are you doing?" She hissed out, anger coloring her voice in a rare display of emotion,"Have you no respect for the dead?!"

Taka shrugged. The honest answer to that was 'not really.' He cared more for his village than some dead person.

Looking away, Karyu folded her arms over her chest, deciding to be objective about the situation after a moment. "Have you found anything of interest?" She asked quietly.

Taka sighed and shook his head, then straightened up. "Nothing. We should get going."

[Blazy]

Nodding, she turned back once again, and headed towards the road. She wondered why their quarry had not come this way, perhaps he had known of the old hermit, and steered clear of this area. Or perhaps not, it could have been luck or coincidence that they found the man, instead. Karyu could not decide whether she was relieved that they hadn't found him yet, or anxious that they had yet to find him.

Taka grunted in annoyance. "This is pointless. We'll be running all over the world looking for this guy."

[Blazy]

Blinking in surprise, Karyu stopped walking, and turned to her partner. "Do you mean to give up?" She asked quietly. "Finding and killing this man is our mission, we have no time limit, only our own impatience."

"Of course not," Taka said. "But we need a different approach."

She thought for a moment, "You mean to set a trap?" She asked after a few quiet seconds, "What would we use as bait? And how would we get him to fall for it?"

"We need to know why he attacked," Taka said thoughtfully. "We need to know his motive."

[Blazy]

"Jinchuriki rampage when the demon inside gains control." Karyu replied after a short moment of silence. "Perhaps it is Merely bent on causing as much destruction and chaos as possible."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Taka shook his head slowly. "I don't think so. There had to be something. A grudge against the village."

[Blazy]

She nodded slowly as she thought about it. "I think you're right. He could have destroyed the whole village, but he didn't." A grudge was sounding more and more ffitting as she thought about it. "No! He left survivors, so that he could be identified, and have retaliation."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Taka nodded. "So why does he have a grudge against the village?"

She shook her head slowly, she had no idea why he would have a grudge against the village. "Were you in the village when he attacked?" She asked after a few moments of silence.
