"Val?" Aron whispered. He had a million questions burning on the tip of his tongue, but he didn't say them. Two days. That's what it had taken. He'd kissed her, and a few hours later this had happened. He was so stupid.

Valerie made a sound in the back of her throat. She wasn't sure she could speak yet. She wasn't sure she'd ever be able to speak again. This must be happiness she thought. Her whole body was singing, she wasn't even as sore as she thought she'd be. Everything was sunlight and warmth and the feeling of him behind her and the sheets on her skin.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Aron wasn't sure what that sound meant. Was she happy? Or was she upset with him like he feared? "Say something," he whispered. "Please."

"I-" It suddenly occurred to her that he couldn't see her like this. He was still Aron, if she let him know just how excited and happy she was, he'd think she was pathetic. "I have to go." Not even putting her clothes on ran out to the front door and turned just as she exited.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Val, wait!" Aron sprang out of bed and ran after her, but he stopped in the doorway. He stared after her, his face devastated, but eventually he turned away and swung the door shut. Well, that had been good while it lasted. "Another one-night-stand," he said bitterly to himself. "That's all I was ever meant to have."

A few hours passed. Eventually Valerie returned to the house. The door was shut so she pawed at it and gave a little yip.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Aron happened to be smashed at that point, a slew of empty beer bottles in front of him, so he didn't hear her right away. Eventually his ears picked it up and he staggered toward the door, turning the knob with a little difficulty.

(i almost started crying, it's worse than I thought)

Valerie slunk in and immediately shifted. "Why are you drunk?" She raced toward him. "What happened?" Valerie stuttered out a few more words before she saw the look on Aron's face and stopped talking. "Aron?"

Aron blinked at her, swaying a little on his feet. "Oh, great," he murmured. "Now I'm hallucinating. I must have had more than I thought."

"Aron? Seriously, come here." Valerie pulled on his arm and in his drunken state he was easy to drag to the couch. "Stay there." She went to the kitchen and opened all the cabinets until she found a glass and filled it with water and went back. "Drink this." She made sure he took a swallow before talking again. "Why are you drunk?" Her tone had changed from concerned to serious to meek. He was disappointed. It had been awful for him and he regretted every second of it. She should have known. She should have gone home last night. Now Aron would resent her, he would blame her lack of experience for the night being so bad.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Aron leaned back, his head lolling to the side, and he looked at her through bleary eyes. "I thought you'd left me. I thought... I thought you were mad at me. I took advantage of you."

Valerie actually smacked him. It wasn't hard but she still couldn't believe she did it. "How dare you! I wanted that! I wanted it with you! I've never even thought feeling like that was possible! Whatever you did last night, taking advantage of me was not a part of it!"

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Aron stared at her, stunned. He wasn't sure if he was shocked more by the slap or her words. "You don't... hate me?" he asked slowly. She wanted it... with him? A giddy feeling rose in his chest and he gave a goofy smile.

"No, not at all." She crinkled her nose. "Although drunk isn't suitable on you, let's get you in the shower yeah? I'll make you breakfast." She stood then suddenly realized she was still naked. "Um. Are my clothes...?"

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Aron got to his feet with a little difficulty. "They're in the bedroom," he said. Instead of letting her go get them, though, he grabbed her and pulled her up against him. He was fully clothed, but he could still feel the curve of her body. Familiar, comforting. "You could shower with me," he whispered, his lips brushing her ear.

Immediately Valerie's stomach clench and her legs felt weak. Her breath turned quick against his chest and she nodded. "OKay."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Aron expected her to put up a bit of a fight, need some convincing. When she didn't argue, he grinned and led her toward his bathroom. He turned on the water to let it heat up and then started stripping off his clothes. He set his clothes in a pile on the sink to take care of later and turned to her. His eyes trailed up and down her body, his gaze surprisingly tender, lacking the hunger he'd shown last night. Now he was just... admiring her. "You're so beautiful," he whispered, stepping closer to her.

Valerie, who had been gaping at him as he undressed, suddenly felt shy. "Right." She mumbled, trying to hide her body with her arms.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Really," Aron said. He pulled her arms away from her body and bent his head to kiss her collar bone. "Do you not believe me?"

Valerie whimpered. "If I say I believe you does that mean we can get in that shower together?" She pulled back slightly to look at him. "I want you. At least, I think that's what I'm feeling. It's making me insane." Her voice went up higher at the end of her last sentence.
