Valerie wished she could just change right now and rip his throat out with her massive doberman teeth. Instead she just ignored him. What an a**.

Aron finished off the last of his burger and licked the grease off his fingers. "Damn that's good," he said.

Not bothering to respond, Valerie downed the res of her beer and checked her watch. She wondered if Isaiah was missing her yet. But it wasn't late enough in the evening for him to start calling her. She groaned, she needed an excuse to escape Aron.

Aron gulped down the rest of his drink. "You gonna finish that?" he asked, gesturing at hers.

Aron threw some cash down on the counter and stood up. "You ready to go?"

"Yes." There was no way she was going to get away from him now.

Aron smiled and led her out of the bar. "Where to, sweetheart?" He asked. "Anywhere you want. My treat."

Valerie vaguely considered punching him in the face but she changed her mind. She needed to take him up on this offer. "Surprise me." She grinned.

"Hmm," Aron said. A thoughtful look took over his face and then he grinned. "I know just the place." He turned to start down the street, but before he could a van pulled up in front of them. Three men dressed in black jumped out. Aron snarled at them as they advanced on him. Before he could attack, they grabbed his arms and dragged him toward the van. "Get the girl, too!" the driver from the van shouted. One of the men broke away from the others and grabbed Valerie. "Sorry, sweetheart. You're coming with us."

Valerie squashed the temptation to turn and rip the man's arm off, she knew she could have, but she was more methodical than that. All the men had to die and she had to get Aron out. Flash changing wouldn't be useful. She thanked the universe for all of her secrets. How had she even gathered so many? But they would make her deadly, and they would need deadly.

It was probably a good thing she didn't turn. While it would have surprised them, the group could have kicked her butt. Aron didn't resist because he knew these people. They were trained fighters, heartless killers, members of the cruelest pack in New York City. And they had a bone to pick with him. Not really a surprise, given what a gigantic a** he was.

They shoved the two of them in the van and then it took off down the street.

Valerie watched the men. They were clearly ruthless. And ridiculously hot. What? Ugg sometimes she hated her brain. Why was it thinking about these things when she was probably going to die. Oh god, Isaiah. What would he do without her?

Aron glanced over at her and met her eyes. She looked remarkably calm for someone who had just been kidnapped. "What's the plan, Stan?" he asked the man sitting across from him. "You gonna beat me up or something?"

"Or something," the man grunted.

Valerie cocked her head and looked at the man who had spoken. "And why am I here?" She sounded so nice and calm. Yay her.

He glanced over his shoulder at the driver. It seemed he didn't know the answer to that, either. After a few seconds, the driver spoke. "You're here as incentive."

"So basically you think torturing me, or whatever you have planned, is going to get Aron to talk or whatever you need from him?" She had to be in shock. There was no way she was simply this calm.

The man smirked, his face visible to them in the rear view mirror. "Something like that. You see, Aron here is a selfish jerk, and yet he seems to actually care about people in real danger. I was going to take a random person off the street, but someone he knows will work much better."

Valerie glanced at Aron. "I'm pretty sure Aron doesn't give to flying f***s about me. Whether or not I'm a person in pain." She wondered about her pain tolerance, she'd been through a lot before, pain didn't usual bother her much. But these guys seemed serious.
