"I can't disagree with that reasoning." Coren glanced back at the noble he was guarding, clearly he hadn't forgotten he was on-duty at the moment, as much as he wanted to.
"How can you be certain of that?" Coren crossed his arms but smiled at her. "For all you know I could go off to war tomorrow." He pointed out, but his tone was light, as in jest.
"Oh?" Coren offered a small smile and looked amused by the comment. "Well, I guess the best way to that is to not go to war." He chuckled. "Good thing I'm in charge of training the squires and pages."
"Oh, just a few times in the past." He shrugged off the question with a wave of his hand. "I'm sure there are much more interesting topics to talk about."
"You don't find battles interesting?" Annie tilted her head, "It always seems like that's the only thing that guards and knights find interesting. Well, that and sex."
"I think it would be more accurate to say that the only things guards and knights find interesting are sex and bragging about conquest--both on the battlefield and in the bedroom." Coren corrected. "And, I am not one to brag." He concluded.
"Never said I wasn't confident." Coren pointed out. "I just said that I don't like to brag. I wouldn't have gotten to where I am today, if I wasn't good at what I did--I don't see the point in making sure everyone hears exaggerated tales of my exploits and victories."
