Luca put the horse into the stables as Averyl headed up to the house, he looked back the way they came as if expecting Cassius to be right there. Luca sighed. He hadn't meant to relive the past quite so much with Lady Averyl but she had a way of making him want to tell her everything. Well almost everything.

Averyl's arrival caused quite a stir at the castle. The guards were all over her, asking if she was okay, what had happened, if she was hungry. She waved off most of their questions, save for saying she was fine, and requested some time to rest. She attended to getting Luca set up in the servants' quarters before going to her room.

He was happy that Cassius had found someone new he might love. He had been broken after his wife died but he had been utterly destroyed after.... well that didn't matter now.

Luca was startled awake by the sounds of the horses, the stable near enough to his rooms that muffled sounds easily came through the open window. He listened as their shuffling became more urgent and one horse let loose a low whinney. Luca jumped to the window and saw a dark figure appearing over the hills. He dashed from the room, banged on Lady Averyl's door, yelling something about Cassius then ran off.

Luca was quick, the result of war and living on the run, he met the figure just as it descended the hills. It was Cas, draped in clothing that was not his, a hood covering his face but Luca would know that figure anywhere. Cas leaped from the moving horse and tumbled smoothly into full embrace with Luca, their loose, untidy clothing melding together so that they appeared to be one solid creature.

The men parted just enough to grasp each other's faces, their foreheads almost touching. "You're afraid." Cassius stated simply.

Luca laughed breathily. "Just because you are the greatest warrior this world has seen does not mean it keeps me from being afraid."

They separated and stared at each other a moment more before their typical emotionless, cool composure fell around them. "She's waiting for you." Luca finally said.

Cassius's eyes slid from Luca's face onto Averyl's. He took a step toward her. "Lady Averyl." Another step. "Are you well?"
