Daemon dragged his hand across his face and sighed. He should go to her place and try to find her. Apologize. And then he should get her phone number so he could find her next time he did something shitty, because god new it was going to happen again. If she even gave him another chance.

Felicity tried to resist the strength of Paul as he dragged her through the streets but Paul had always been so much stronger. She wondered vaguely if that alley had been her last moment of freedom.

Daemon took another drink before he put the bottle aside and stood up. "You know what, I forgot something. I'll see you guys later." The other guys around him barely paused their conversation. One of them grunted in acknowledgement. He knew he shouldn't care, but he scowled anyway as he walked past them.

Paul jerked her to a stop and she realized with some horror that it was one of his appartments. "What are you doing Paul?"

Paul sneered, "I'm going to break you down until you won't leave me. You. Are. Mine."

Felicity jerked back but Paul used the movement against her to pull her closer.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Daemon left the building and out of habit glanced around the street. He started walking back toward his apartment, but then something he'd seen finally processed into his brain. He whirled around and spotted a familiar figure. He recognized her even though he couldn't see her face. Felicity. And... Paul. His face hardened and he strode forward, ready to kick the guy's a**.

"Paul, let go." Felicity said forcefully, but even forcefully, she sounded unconvincing. She wondered briefly how long she'd survive him again, if she would have any fight left in the end. He was too dangerous and she should have known from the start, anyone worth their salt knew that Paul "Snake" was the most dangerous man in the region.

"I will never let you go. C'mon, inside." He shoved her closer to the door, his hand digging into her arm to keep her from escaping.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Is there a problem here?" The voice that came from behind them was deep, level, and... seriously pissed off. Daemon stood half in the shadows, his dark hair a bit windblown from the somewhat breezy night. The angles of his face were more pronounced in the contrast from the streetlight down the road and the pitch black of the night. He wore his leather jacket over a dark gray t-shirt, along with nearly black jeans. He looked like a shadow himself.

Felicity's breath fell from her mouth in a sharp gasp. She froze in Paul's grasp and waited. Surely that couldn't be him. Surely he wouldn't be foolish enough to mess with the snake. Right?

"What d'you want, boy?" Snake snapped.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Daemon narrowed his eyes at the man. "For you to let the nice woman go. That's a simple enough request, I think."

In a fraction of a second before it happened, Felicity knew Snake would pull his gun on Daemon. As soon as the barrel was aim she pushed herself against Snake. "Stop it!"

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

The gun went off as Felicity hit him, but his aim was off and the bullet just missed Daemon. He swore and threw himself forward, tackling Snake and knocking the gun out of his hand.

Felicity shoved against them both, bouncing Snake's head against the asphalt and making Daemon stumble. She lunged at the gun and grabbed it, aiming first at Daemon then at Snake. "Both of you stop." Her voice was low and leaked venom.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Daemon rolled back to his feet but stayed low, watching Felicity with the gun in her hands. Yesterday he would have laughed at the thought of her pointing a gun at someone, but the look in her eyes told him there was nothing to laugh at. He wouldn't mind if she shot Snake, but he had the feeling he might shoot him too. "It's okay, Felicity," he said. "Just give me the gun."

Felicity spun on him, her finger curled a little more tightly around the trigger. "No." She said forcefully. She watched him warily as she turned back to Snake. "You will leave me alone or I will shoot you."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Daemon grimaced. "Felicity," he said softly. "Walk away from this and give me a chance to talk to you. Okay? I know I don't deserve it, but I'd rather you not shoot anyone."

Felicity looked at Daemon for a long moment. "No. He deserves to die. I'd be doing this city a justice."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Daemon couldn't agree more, but he didn't want Felicity to be the one to pull the trigger. "He'll get what's coming to him," he said. "But not from you. You don't know what it's like to take a life. It... it stays with you. It changes you." A month ago he would have said he didn't care that he'd killed, but that was back when he didn't care about anything. Now every time he thought of it his stomach clenched.

Felicity snorted, "So saving my soul then right?"

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Daemon frowned. "If you want to call it that. I know you want to kill him but take a second to think. Do you think you can handle it? When you pull that trigger, the shot will hurt your ears and the gun will recoil. The bullet will pierce skin and muscle, shatter bone. Blood with spurt and you'll watch the light die from his eyes. Do you want to watch that?"

Felicity looked back at Snake. She did want that. She wanted to be the one to do it. But she knew she wouldn't survive either. And the sweetest part of Snake dying would be that she got to live. Slowly she handed the gun to Daemon.
