"When Castor was killed, Pollux asked Zeus to let him share his own immortality with his twin to keep them together."
The humans that told the tale of Castor and Pollux didn't quite manage to get it all.
It wasn't quite their fault, because their story just didn't pick up off right there. It took several more centuries, and another childhood--diapers and all.
They had been born to an odd pair. A wizard woman by the name of Gwen was their mother, and their father, Artem, was an Order member. Their father hadn't been there but a few weeks of them growing up; so the main parent figure had been their mother growing up. Castor; or, now, Yoshi, as his mother had named them, seemed to enjoy hating their father when he was there, and trying not to make their mother angry.
Because he was nothing if not a people-pleasing person that did whatever was asked of him. At the age of ten, he had a gentle curl at the end of his red hair and muddy brown eyes that were from their mother. Yoshi' hand was constantly at his mouth, biting at his nails, and he had the look of a kitten left in a box by the curb look to him 24/7.
That look was amplified by twenty as their mother eyed his spelling test; a big red fifteen on the top. Gwen was mostly accepting of what her children did, but grades and not practicing magic were something she couldn't, and wouldn't, overlook.
"Yoshi... I though you told me you studied for this last night..." She slowly said, watching as he hiccuped and looked up at the ceiling, hoping for an escape.
"I-I did... the paper, I just... tests..." his teeth latched down on his bottom lip, and Gwen slowly turned to her other child.
"Nathaniel, how did you do on the test?" she asked, diverting the topic; because she could never do more than that.
