The trails between kingdoms, the roads that travelers used to transport goods and ride, were always perilous. Aside from the recent outcrop of bandit groups that recently popped up, dark things have always lurked about. Some people claim that monsters slink through the shadows and fly in the sky- and they do- but it isn't always so simple. Some monsters aren't quite monsters at all, but man. Man is the biggest monster of all, no?
Hand-in-hand, linked by the intertwining of fingers, a pair walk down the dusty trail, kicking dirt in their wake. One was tall, one was short. A man and a woman, twins actually. Cecilia Firth's bright blue eyes were busy roaming the land between Caerleon and Odin- approaching the border of Odin, while her brother Brandon's eyes remained locked on the path ahead of them. He was the ever-vigilant one, the protector. Cecilia didn't worry so much. If they ran into trouble, they'd deal with it accordingly.
Cecilia smiled as the gates of the kingdom came into view. What fun they could have in Odin!
Kuro enjoyed days like this; days she could leave the castle not followed by a body guard, and just explore. She was small and hardly noticable--minus her blonde hair that was in a long braid that trailed against the ground. It was what showed she was not a commoner due to all the ribbons and jewels in her locks.
She had big brown eyes filled with innocence, eyes that hasn't seen any of the dangers of the world, nor a drop of blood. She probably wouldn't either if she wasnt so rebellious. She peeks out the gates on her tiptoes, the horses and carriages moving around her without complaint.
Before they could reach the gates, Brandon took his sister by the arm, "Behave yourself, Cecilia," he all but growled.
The blonde paused, tilting her head. Her brother only ever used her full name when he was serious. She shrugged him off, "Don't tell me what to do, brother dearest. You know I hate it.'
Kuro skips out of the gate merrily, he eyes looking around as she searches the area for something interesting. Maybe a merchant that was passing through had something interesting--or maybe a courier with some information she could squeeze out of him.
Kuro caught sight of a wagon with exotic birds on it and began to run towards it, skirts in hand. Her path intersects the twins, and as fate would have it she ran into the other blonde.
Cecilia stumbled back slightly, nearly bumping into Brandon. Her gaze darted to Kuro and she raised her eyebrows, "Oh, pardon me," she murmured, though it wasn't technically her fault.
The younger one regains her footing with a startled squeak. She quickly recovers and bends her knee in a formal curtesy, "V-very um.. Sorry, I'm very sorry," she breathes out nervously and edges to the side. She mentally kicks herself for how she had stammered and repeated herself. She was supposed to be like... Like her sister--not a skittish mouse.
"Hurry?" She echoes not seeming to remember what she had made a beeline across traffic for anymore. A few squawks full the air and her eyes light up in recognition--the birds! She swivels in her heel and suddenly collides with the wagon she was looking for, her head banging against the frame.
This time, it was Brandon's strong arms that steadied the girl, while Cecilia laughed lightly, "You should probably move calmly, hon. There are lots of things to run into around here."
"Cecilia," Brandon warned softly, but the blonde waved him off. Carefully, she touched the girl's head with gentle finger tips. She was probably making a risky move, but so what? She let a small amount of magic flow from her fingertips and heal the bump slowly.
