But he only spoke madness and showed me monsters that I know creep beyond our plane of exsistance and slavair over us juicy mortals despite being unable to reach us.
Tar Raven showed me how to slaughter the monsters.
He showed me that when monsters get too big, they cannot move.
And thats when us small, quiet things can slink from the shadows and strike.
I was raised to literally follow my dreams.
So I have.
Whenever Tar Raven shows me a face, I kill that person, I know everything about them and why they must die.
The Loyalists to the Ravendels always gave me everything I needed.
So I never was caught.
But the last face Tar Raven showed me... Was the face of one that the Lannisters had requested me to kill."

She stares at him and smiles bitterly," You. It's rare for him to show me a face for contract..."

Kell was silent for a moment. "So, the Lannisters want me dead. No big surprise there," he said. "But why would this 'Tar Raven' take the contract?"

" He is not an 'it'... He's Tar Raven," Nyx mutters and shakes her head," I don't know... I don't know.." She shakes her head and starts to shudder a bit

"So. I guess it's my turn now," he said.

" Yes... Yes it is..." She smiles and leads him down the dark hallway, her eyes flickering," keep your voice low please.. People are sleeping.."

"What do you want to know?" he asked softly.

" Why you and your father are so... Distant," She pulls him through a door and into the Godswood... Like she knew the castle already better than he did... She had been sent to kill him.

The old white tree glowed faintly in the moonlight, the snow paley glowing

Kell was silent for awhile, trying to collect his thoughts. Gods, could he really tell her the truth? Hardly anyone knew the whole story. "Mostly it's because my father isn't a very good person, and I know it. No one else seems to. And..." He paused. "Because of something that happened when I was fourteen."

"... Do you need another story swap to help you?" She asks softly, pulling away from him, her feet crunching into the snow, she looks at him over her shoulder

Kell glanced at her, meeting her eyes briefly. "That might help," he said. He felt strange around her, more like himself and not someone he was supposed to be, or rather the opposite of what people expected. He hated being the perfect heir. He didn't feel like he had to pretend with her, though.

" When I was living with the loyalists, the first contract I got was to kill an infant... I was about ten years old," She starts, sitting at the edge of the pond and leaning down, knocking on the ice," I went to sleep that night and begged Tar Raven to let me kill someone else 'I don't want to be like te Starks'..." She pauses and murmurs," He looked at me, paused and said ' You're saving it'... I woke up.. An did what I was told," she smiles at him bitterly before resting her palm on the ice," Your turn."

She had killed an infant? He felt his stomach twist. I don't want to be like the Starks. Was that how the world saw them, because of his father? Not that surprising, really. "When I turned fourteen, my father decided it was time for me to become a man," he said. "So he took me to Karhold, to a brothel there. I think you can guess what happened next. Afterward, my father had the girl killed. She was only sixteen."

" Thats it?" She asks, pushing down on the ice so it groaned under the pressure..

Kell stared at her. No, of course she didn't understand. She had no problem with killing. Kelsier had never killed anyone in his life, but he sure felt like he'd killed that girl.

" You're hands are completely and utterly clean... Have you ever killed someone directly? Swung the blade and killed them?" She asks, tilting her head. Her grey eyes sad

"No," he said softly. What did it matter, though? That girl had been innocent, and he was the reason she died.

" Than look at your hands, they're as clean as new glass," She smiles at him, than holds her hand out to him," These hands... These hands are caked with blood. The girl is in the care of the Stranger now... She's fine... Besides, you probably released her from a life of pain and agony-" she pushes her hands into the snow and smiles at him," You saw what I did to those men... I slaughter for a living, I find it neccessary and make it fun so I don't go mad... Yet the most blood you'd probably spilled is cutting yourself accidently."

" Don't be so depressed," she smirks slightly at him," You're not a very good prince that way... More like a princess,"

"That doesn't change the fact that my father is an evil man," Kelsier said. "You know from experience what people think of my family. How can I change that?"

" By not acting like you father, that means you should cuddle up to him and hunker down," she replies, gazing at him evenly

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Cuddle up?" Kell repeated, sounding disgusted. "It's not in my nature."
