Kelsier got up on the horse's back and grimaced. "My father thinks everyone revolves around him, but I'm the only person he can actually force to."

She crawls up awkwardly behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist," Have you heard of the Bastard Heir of the Greyjoys?" She asks softly,"... He is winning the army and nobles' favor, so when he comes into power, he can do it either violently or wait his turn... Either way he has power over his father now."

"Unfortunately, everyone probably dislikes me as much as they fear my father," Kelsier said. He urged his horse into motion and turned the gelding around. "I don't think I'll be winning favor with anyone."

" Thats why you start cuddling up to people," she purrs," Want me to help? I might not be very good at talking but I can interject some words here and there.." Nyx rests her chin on his shoulder and smiles

"I'm really not good at 'cuddling up to people,'" Kell said. "Mostly because I just don't like people. I don't even want to take over my father's position, and, if he wins this stupid war of his, I certainly don't want to be king."

" It's your duty, and i've come yo see the most intelligent people don't want the responsibility of being in charge..." She answers," Thats why... You have to.."

Kelsier gritted his teeth and stared ahead, just swaying to the rhythm of the horse's footsteps in the snow. Then he said, "I always did what I had to do. Or, at least, what my father told me I had to do. I'm tired of following my 'duty.'" His voice trailed off bitterly. "I'm just tired."

She knew what he meant, she felt her chest clench painfully... She knew what it was like to just want to lie down and sleep forever in dreamless limbo. Nyx squeezes his waist slightly," let me help you carry this burden, Kell..." She urges gently, wanting him to know he wasn't alone at least..

Kelsier glanced over his shoulder at her. "You really think I'd make a good lord? I'm not..." A pained look crossed his face. "I'm not even sure I'm a good man."

" If you're not a good man, you would have killed me all those days ago," she answers softly, humming a quiet, eery tune

Kelsier fell silent. Was she right? He wasn't sure that one good deed made up for a lifetime of bad ones. While he might not be a bad man, per se, he had never done much to help other people. Mostly, he'd just kept to himself and rebelled against his father in whatever small way he could.

She stays silent for a long time before murmuring," I know you're a good person... Even if you don't," she wraps her arms around his waist securely," Even if... We repay out sins ten thousand fold, we still won't feel clean, will we?"

"No," Kelsier said softly. Most of his sins were indirect, actions of his father brought on by his own mistakes. He still felt responsible, though. People had died because of him. No matter what he did, he would never forget the poor girl at that one brothel.

Nyx reaches around and grasps his hands in her own,"... Just... Be happy!" She urges and smiles, kissing his cheek as a raven suddenly flew past them

Kell turned his head slightly, looking at her out of the corner of his eye. "I'm not sure I know how to do that."

" You'll figure it out.." She breathes and smiles at him faintly," I believe in you, little Wolf," nyx smiles slightly, hoping thatc maybe her message would get through or at least... Give him hope... Thats all they had in the end, any way

Kell looked away. In the distance, he could see the mighty form of Winterfell rising above the frozen landscape. Despite everything, it was his home, and he loved it. They reached the path a moment later, and Kelsier urged the horse to move a little bit faster. In the silence, he thought about the kiss to his cheek. Why had she done that?

Nyx didn't speak nor make an attempt to, she merely rests her head on his back, watching the scenery pass by in a slight blur... Her grip weakened and she felt dizzy but said nothing...

Kelsier felt the change but thought nothing of it. He continued toward the castle, the horse eventually falling into a trot.

as they near the castle, her arms had begun to slide from around him, she could no longer stay awake, her muscles felt weighted by lead... She began sliding to the side, eyes closed... Almost like she was dead
