She shakes her head looking at it. At the side there was a hole for a key. "But I know where the key is..." She said dashing to the kitchen and hopping up on the counter.
She stood on her tip toes trying to find the key on top of the cabinets. "I remember it because my papa had showed it to me. He said one day I would wear it around my neck, and it would open secrets." She pauses when she wraps her fingers around the small metal handle. Presenting it happy, "which means whatever is in that box I was meant. To find."
Sitting on the counter she plopped the box on her lap. Turning key in the lock she looked up at him, " adventures in the new house, episode one." Giggling she opens the lid, and her smile fades. "What the hell are these?"
She looked down horrified. "Are these stakes, or... Like tent holders? She wiggles the box in hopes there's something else. Seeing a glint at the bottom, reaching her hand in she takes out the chain care fulling, her hand warped with the corner of her shirt.
I think it's poisonous to vampires..." She says a little bewildered. "So my parents killed vampires?" Her voice was high pitched. Looking down into the box, she picked up a little charm with her bare hand. Holding it out to him, "what does it mean?" She asked. The symbol on it was her family crest she remembered that. She doodled it in her notebooks as a child.
She looked down at it. "Is that what the sur name Grinston means? Just a hunter family name?" She asks, still high pitched. Flipping the crest over in her hand.
"I didn't know... Everything seemed so normal." Then something dawned on her, "my younger brother, he would be a hunter, since I didn't take over. But he would also be an older guy right now, but if he had kids, wouldn't he have given this," she shook the box "to them?"
"He had to of. I learned all about hunter families while with Michel..." She snapped her fingers, "the oldest. The oldest is supposed to take the title! At their 18th birthday. I was turning 18 when he took me. So why is Michel so afraid of the Grinston family?"
