Dee smiled, "Well, that's my little family for ya."

She smiled "its a wonderful family to have"

He nodded, "I couldn't ask for a better one."

She smiled "i couldnt either" she said.

"Are you happy, Melanie?" He asked.

"Well most of the time" she said with a smile deciding not to lie.

He nodded, "I'm sorry- I wish you were happy all the time."

"Its not your fault" she said.

He shrugged, "I know that.."

She looked at Kaiden again.

"Are we friends now?" Dee asked with a small smile.

"Of course" she said with a smile.

Dee stood up and led Melanie and her son to the door, "Why don't you come in for a bit?" he offered, his smile warm, "I can make you hot chocolate or something else warm to drink."

Melanie picked up the puppy and keeping it faced away, she nuzzled him, causing him to turn back into the child she had given birth to. "Ok, that sounds nice. Thank you." She replied.

Vriska was waiting for them outside and she barked when Dee came out. The other dogs had calmed down and were off doing different things. Bear, the Alaskan malamute, trotted over and pushed his big nose against Melanie's arm.

She smiled and pet the dogs head gently, showing him to her pup.

His tail wagged casually and he licked the baby's hand. Bear was one of the calmer ones, like a giant teddy bear.

Her baby ohh and ahed, grabbing at it with his tiny hands.

Bear nuzzled his belly and snuggled happily. Dee chuckled, "Bear, come on, we gotta get inside."

She smiled and stood up fully, one hand gently on the dogs head as she went inside.
