Lady Illium Wylde was sitting at the head of the table, beside her husband. She'd been feeling under the weather for a while, her pale skin looking too gaunt. She was told by the medic that she could be with child, but her body wasn't adjusting well. She narrowed her eyes as her sister came into the dining hall, and forced a smile at her approach, "You're late, Darcy."
Darcy just smiled and curtsied, "Apologies, My Lady. I did not realize the time."
Lief was already sitting to the left of his cousin, Lord Wylde, and two seats down. He smiled at the approach of the lady and gave a wave. "Hello, my lady."
"I do. It keeps my mind sharp," he agreed as the first course was served. It was a simple but tasty broth that could only be described as springy. Lief took a few polite sips after the Lord and Lady ate, then stopped in order to keep from filling up.
Darcy sipped at the broth, this being her least favorite part of supper. It barely sated her at all. She kept her eye on Lief, watching him with a fond smile.
Darcy's eyes lit up and she looked at the food happily. This was the kind of meal she enjoyed. She cut herself off a decent portion of meat, humming softly.
The main course was served. It was a large fish for every person, a blue-fin tuna, served on a bed of lettuce and a side of melted butter. Lief ate a little more of this because he loved fish. He watched Darcy for a moment, grinning.
Lief actually finished the fish while the final course came. It was a pleasantly cool dish of fruit, topped with whipped cream and sugar. Lief ate this as well and then sat, politely quiet.
