"You can't rush perfection!" Salem scoffed and pouted, his mind whirling with ideas. He wanted feathery wings, like a bird, but in all black. They'd probably look a lot like a raven's. They would have that pretty sheen too, when the sun caught them. Nothing too flashy, but definitely beautiful. The tail would be as smooth as his skin, lighter black than his wings. The point at the end would sort of look like the stuff that animal horns are made of. It would be sharp and extremely hard to break. Before he realized it, a ripple of pain surged through him and the boy yelped in surprise.
Salem hunched over in pain, gasping, though he squeezed his eyes shut and kept the picture in his mind. The skin on his back rippled and contorted beneath his shirt, the wings materializing, ready to burst through.
He yelled out in pain as his skin ripped open and two large wings burst free, nearly smacking Mark and Gon in the face in the process of stretching. The feathers rustled and twitched, shaking themselves off in the air. His tail did the same, springing free and coiling like a snake.
Salem panted slightly, the new weight on his back making him pause. They weren't as heavy as he expected, but their movement was so different he wasn't sure what to do, "Whoa..this is..weird." His tail coiled around Mark's upper thigh.
"Of course I will," He responded as if that was obvious, "As long as I learn to balance myself out." Salem took a couple steps forward, still close enough that his tail was attached to him. He had to test out how walking would be.
"They aren't so bad," Salem shrugged, the wings rustling as moved his shoulderblades around. The grip on Mark's leg loosened and his tail slid away, rising up behind him slowly.
