"How should you know?" She threw his words back at him, standing in a movement faster than light. She stared down at him. She had went through a drastic change, her hair wild curls around her face, eyes an ocean blue rather than darker sky, flecked with stormy gray and emerald green. She flicked her wrist, and a ball of water formed in her hands. Oh, yeah. She was definitely a water elementalist.
"I am not a victim. I control. I've been running from those who dare to try to control me for too long. I wish to destroy them." She crouched, one knee on the ground, the other brushing her chin as she cocked her head. "And yet, you question me. Fool." The water formed into ice and then shattered from the outside in.
Jacob did not seem phased by this and he simply shot up into the air, quick as flash when she shot ice at him. He flew in tight circles above her, a hundred feet in the air. He swooped back down and glared at her. "I didn't ask you to come here. You seem to be able to handle yourself, so leave."
She hadn't shot ice at him. It had merely imploded in her hand, leaving little ice shards in her palm. She stood straight and dusted off her plain, black leather pants. "I need a place to stay. A simple night."
She drew her sword out of its sheathe between her shoulder blades, the blade a strange color - pale, pale blue, like ice. It was made out of ice, powered from her control, and her control only. While many think that dragons are creatures controlled by Fire, there are different species. What is known as a Water Dragon twined up Elena's arm, chin resting on her wrist, the pulse there, thrumming, throbbing under the skin.
She stroked the dark indigo scales and sheathed the sword. The dragon's name was Aqua, just a little hatching, and she had had a steady stream of dragon companions for over four hundred years. Oh, yeah, she was old - really, really old.
He grit his teeth. He threw up his hands in exasperation. "Whatever! I'll sleep in the trees because I can actually get there!" He swooped off and landed in a tree above her, only his eyes and his silhouette visible.
The dragon let out a little puff of bright, beautiful blue fire before Elena settled down, disturbed by the fire. She pushed it away and rested her back against a tree, head leaned back, the fire flickering in front of her. She was mildly annoyed.
She unsheathed the sword, setting it by her thigh. Her dragon grew, grew until she was the one embraced in a sweet, icy hold. The voice in her head was soft. Sleep, my One. Just rest.
Jacob wasn't even tired. He ran on adrenaline all the time. He watched her awake and then swooped down into the clearing, his wings out to catch the wind and slow him. He went to one edge of the clearing and bent down, like a sprinter. He ran towards the edge of the trees and flapped his elegant wings, listing up into the air an swiftly becoming nothing but a dot in the sky.
