Marnie folded her hands, which were delicate and roughened from working with plants, and tilted her head, "How do they usually go?"

Reagan thought about how to respond for a minute, polishing off another tea before answering. "I can be easily distracted--I guess--and some take that as I'm not interested it."

She paused. "I guess I don't take into account that these women don't really know me--that my quirks and eccentricities can throw people off." She started to ramble. "I have trouble getting that balance between what is getting to know someone for the first time and what is too personal for the first date. I understand that that last bit is a struggle for most, but for awhile--when I was going through a period of significant change myself--I couldn't differentiate between the two, or I just didn't care to."

Marnie reached over and touched Reagan's hand, brushing her fingertips over the back of it, "It's alright, I don't mind. I find your change of topics to be refreshing."

Reagan looked down at their hands, smiling. "I'm glad."

The waiter returned, placing the check on the table before leaving them along once more.

Reagan takes the check, reaching for her wallet. She places the cash on the tray and sits it aside.

Marnie smiled and squeezed her hand softly, "Want to go for that walk now?"

"Sounds good." Reagan said, standing.

Marnie stood up after her, running her hands through her light brown hair, "Great!"

Reagan smiled, leading Marnie to the side exit. "We'll just leave the car here for the moment." She informed Marnie, holding the restaurant door open.

Marnie thanked her with a nod as she walked out, "That sounds good to me."

Reagan smiled and head towards the water at a casual pace, keeping in pace with Marnie.

Marnie smiled and glanced over at her, "This has been nice."

"It has been a nice evening." Reagan agreed, brushing her hand against Marnie's.

Marnie blushed and intertwined their fingers gently.

Reagan glanced over at Marnie with a smile and gently squeezed her hand, as she lead them closer to the Hudson River. "It has been a long time since I've been on a first date I actually enjoyed..." She comments, absently.

"Really?" Marnie sounded mildly surprised, "Why haven't you enjoyed others?"

Reagan shrugged at first but after a few moments of silence supplied an answer. "I fell on some hard times awhile back." She pauses for a moment, wondering if this is the kind of conversation she wanted to have on a wonderful first date. "During those times and for a long time after...I just wasn't in the right mindset for making relationships work... And, then, I was just really out of practice once I felt I was ready to try this dating thing again..." She smiled at that last part, trying to lighten her remark.

Marnie's cheeks were a faint pink as she smiled, "Well, I'm glad that I could take you on a date that you enjoy."

Reagan glanced at her. "Have I told you that you're cute when you blush, yet?"

"Er, no, that wasn't mentioned," Marnie mumbled, sounding embarrassed.

[Anime]

"Well. You are cute when you blush." Reagan smiled. "And, now, it has been said."
