Traitor x-x Coward (eter)

Jermon walked wearily back to his room, two guards escorting him. Jeers from the other "subjects" followed him. "Traitor!" "Coward." "How could betray your own kind?" Jermon kept his head down, trying his best to ignore the voices.

One stayed quiet, the one at the ver back the cell that was barred and guarded, the one that never spoke. But as he walked by there was a small flicker inside the cell, many believed it to be empty, but that proved them wrong. She didnt know what he had done, but whatever it was he was probably regretting it more than the others knew. So to shut them up the front bar on all of their small front windows turned to them and became sharp and deadly. Due to her little bit of acting up though the guards both opened the door and stabbed her with electricity. She screamed in pain as she fell to the ground of her cell and curled into a ball.

Jermon's head whipped around his eyes wide. There was actually a person in that cell? He craned his neck, trying to see inside. All he caught was a glimpse of a feminine figure. Then his guard shoved him forward. "Keep moving, Evo."

He stumbled a little before regaining his balance. They reache his cell, just a few down from hers, and the guard unlocked it. Jermon stepped inside without needing to be told.

The others were just as surprised, and they shut up as soon as she caused the small commotion. She whimpered softly before falling silent, the guards stepping out and shutting the door.

Jermon heard the door swing shut behind him, and he stood staring at the white back wall, his heart heavy. Would this never end? ANEW was supposedly a government funded facility to help mutants and discover more about them. That was laughable. They seemed to deem every mutant they'd ever found as "dangerous" or "unstable," and so they'd lock them up in here. Which meant, no matter how much he did what they wanted, he would never be free.

She however was unstable, but only ever since they brought her in. Her parents had happily handed her over after they felt it was too much for them, and ever since then she's been sitting in that cell, every once in a long while they'd let her out with guards to watch her in the yard, but when ever she was out, everyone else was asleep.

So she was regarded as 'The Rift' or just simply Rift, thats what it said on her door. A rift between sane and insane, between in control and out of control, the rift between too powerful and uncontrollable.

Jermon walked over and sat down on his bed--more of a cot, really--and put his head in his hands. This had been going on for far too long. How much longer could he do this? He really had no choice, but... sometimes he wished he could just die. Then he wouldn't have any worries, any cares, any... guilt. He hated that ever-present guilt.

She woke up soon after and slammed her fists on the door,"please, let me into the yard with the others" she asked to which they rudely replied with slamming their sticks against the door in a rude 'no'. She sighed unhappily and waited until the guards did let her out, locking her hands together and practically dragging her to the yard.

Jermon, now in the yard as well, looked up as the guards led her in. His bright blue eyes tracked her every movement, an almost creepy quality to the way he was staring. Intense. Like she was a puzzle he wanted to figure out.

Long snow white hair cascaded down her back and over her shoulders. Her eyes were covered and both hands and feet were clasped until they got her to the middle of the yard. They unhooked her legs then her arms and lastly the thing over her eyes. She stretched and practically purred at the feeling until she let her extraordinary electric blue eyes flutter open. She gazed around, and realizing she wasn't alone she flinched and backed away.

Jermon didn't make a move toward her, but he did continue to watch her. There were few people at the facility who didn't hate him. He wasn't sure what to think about her, but... well, he liked not being hated.

She banged on the door,"there's someone else here!" She yelled in her hoarse voice, hoarse from not being used often.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Jermon jumped up. "Hey," he said urgently. "Shh. Shh!"

She whimpered and curled to the ground putting her hands over her head and rocking on her bottom.

Jermon froze and frowned. "What's wrong?" he asked. He tried to sound gentle, but mostly he sounded bewildered.

She had no idea how to interact with other people, having been practically born in this facility Rift had no idea what exactly interaction between two beings was supposed to be like.

Jermon raised his hands and approached her slowly. "It's okay," he said. "I won't hurt you."

Rift put her thin fragile hands over her head as she shook in fear.

Jermon sat down beside her, crossing his legs. He just sat there, not looking at her, not doing anything. He stared at the sky, admiring the clouds. "They're nice, aren't they?"

She peeked under her hands and gazed at him with her electric blue eyes.
