Only my pet Crim, if you'd kindly. ))
Ah, the city of Burgsprog. As the common citizen of the town say, "nothing like burning oil and the screech of metal to wake you up in the morning!" For Burgsprog was one of the many human cities spread all across the land. Enormous, thick walls with multiple mechs and cannons on the ramparts encircled the city within, protecting it and it's citizens from the wild, overgrown lands beyond.
And, most importantly, from the witches.
You see, this world was one where both technology and magic ex sister, but they did not exist in piece. The witches, or people who had the ability to control magic, had tremendous power, and had begun to enslave all humanity to work under them. However, the normal humans began to fight back by creating mechs and greater technology to combat the witches' strong magics. On the offensive, the humans would never be able to win, so instead they created huge cities in order to keep their people safe from the clutches of the overpowered sorceresses, since witches can only be female.
While the idea was good, and the only thing that saved humanity from total rule under magic wielders, the witches would send in infiltrators to find weaknesses to the human fortifications and eventually destroy the city and claim it's survivors. Sometimes it worked, and sometimes not. But the number of human cities was certainly dwindling due to the witches sabotage.
Now, enough on the history lesson. Burgsprog is divided into different social status ranks and also different sections. There is the Clean Air section, where the city's king, nobles, and high merchants live. Then there is the Mech Town, where most of the average merchants, common workers, and mechanics work. And then there's the Murk, which is essentially the slums. The lowest of the low live here, nearest to the great roaring machines and in the dirtiest part of the entire city. It is well named for there is a constant smog hovering in the air, but the denizens have gotten used to it. Anything can happen here, because barely any guards bother to come down to Murk. There's an underground system and gang ruling mostly, and thieves run aplenty in the streets. For some, though, they would have it no other way. Because, although Murk is not the best, anyone is accepted
