"Just because of the cold, or for some other reason?" he asked. He leaned closer and gave her a suggestive smile. "I hear the heir to Winterfell is quite handsome."

Wren gave a small smile and a chuckle. "I would like to get there ecauseba I would like to get out of here. It is a bit too hot for my taste."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Well, maybe someday you will. Someday I'd like to go to the Crownlands," he said. "But that will probably never happen."

"Maybe."

"I'm a lord," he said. "I can't leave my house. I'm needed here."

"You could take a small vacation."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Can I?" His eyes changed back to their perpetual sadness. "You don't know what it's like. I'm always working, always making sure everything runs smoothly. I don't have time to live my life." His voice turned bitter near the end. He shook his head. "It's just not meant to be."

She gazed at him. "I see," she said softly, turning back to look at the moon. This conversation had taken a sad turn, and while he was under the impression she didn't understand, she did better than he might have thought.

"I should go back inside," he said softly. "My guests will be wondering where I am."

She nodded wordlessly, wondering if she would see him again if she just slipped out of the party. It seemed empty now, and frivolous now that she lived life as a servant.

He paused at the door and glanced back at her. "I hope you get to go to the North someday," he said.

Wren gave a faint smile to him. "I hope you can take a vacation someday." She said with a brighter grin.

Rylan gave her a sad smile and stepped through the door. It was cooler inside, and it was a welcomed relief. The party-goers immediately swarmed him, their chatter filling his ears. All he could think about was a vacation, and the girl on the balcony.

Wren followed him with her eyes and then followed him with her feet. She slipped into the ballroom and then out of the manor, heading back to her own home. She was surprised at how sad she felt- this ball had reminded her of her father.

Rylan couldn't find her when he looked for her next, but he assumed this was due to the crowded ballroom. He had no idea she'd left. Eventually, the guests started leaving as the hours drew further into the night.

Wren arrived at her house a few minutes after she left the manor and immediately went to bed- she was exhausted.

When Wren had awoken the next morning after the party, she found herself gave to face with her master. The old woman had heard about Wren's adventures and the lady had decided to rid her household of the girl. She was ordered to pack what little she owned and leave forever. Wren had begged the woman to let her stay, but she had refused. Nobody could shame her publicly like that.

So Wren went to the streets. She stayed in alleyways mostly but she occasionally strayed away to beg for money. She had gone from bad to worse- from servant to beggar. She yearned for her childhood but alas- they couldn't return.
