The young man seemed to know that he had youth over the Khal, but he was over-confident. He pushed back, seeming to gain an edge over Akeson, until his foot slid slightly, making him lose his footing.

Khal Akeson gave one large shove and succeeded in knocking the young man over. He stabbed him in the heart and then cut off his hair, grinning ferociously.

Catherine let out a breath of relief and looked away, her heart thudding in her chest.

The Khal held up the topknot and a roar rose up from the crowd.

Catherine glanced to Alexandra and gave her a weak smile.

Alexandra smiled genuinely at her queen. "See? He's fine. Barely a scratch on him."

Catherine nodded quickly, "Y-Yeah, I see that," she murmured, clasping her hands in front of her.

The khal tossed the topknot into the crowd and then made his way over to Catherine. He kissed her on the lips and then smiled. "I am a strong warrior. No need worry," he said in halting common tongue.

Catherine laid her hand against his cheek and nodded, "I know, but I can't help but worry."

Khal Akeson smiled. "I understand."

She gently kissed his cheek, "But I'm happy that you are alright."

[~echo~]

Khal puffed his chest out. "Of course I am alright, as you say. I am the khal for a reason."

Catherine chuckled and clasped her hands together, "Yes, of course."

It was a few weeks later and Catherine was getting used to the Dothraki way of life. She was dressed like them, Alexandra was teaching her the language and she was settling into life.

She was busy getting dressed in the morning when her stomach started bothering her. The Khaleesi frowned and rested a hand over her belly.

Alexandra was nearby wearing the new skirt she had been working on. She looked over at the khaleesi and frowned worriedly. "Are you alright, my queen?" she asked with a note of worry in her voice. "Is your stomach upset? There is an herb you can take to feel better. I use it all the time." She made her way to the queen and watched her carefully.

Catherine frowned and rubbed her stomach slowly, "Yes, it feels a little strange. The stomachache is sudden."

Alexandra gently pulled the queen's hand aside as she put her own hand on her stomach. As she did, she noticed that the queen's abdomen was stiffer than normal. She smiled widely suddenly. "My khaleesi, you are pregnant!"

(There probably wouldn't be a kick at this point in the pregnancy- maybe she could feel how stiff Catherine's belly was)

Catherine squeaked and jumped back, both hands covering her belly, "What? Pregnant?"

Alexandra nodded. "I think so. Have you missed your blood? Your stomach is stiffer than normal."
