Catherine's eyelashes fluttered as she thought. It had been a while since she'd had her moon's blood. But judging by time, that meant she conceived around the time she and Akeson first slept together. "I..it's so early. I didn't expect it."

Alexandra smiled softly. "I think it is very possible. But give it a week or two more... then we will bring in a medicine woman."

Catherine nodded and took a deep breath, her stomach expanding slightly, "I don't know how to feel right now."

Alexandra shrugged. "I would say happy. This is a blessing. Khal Akeson will be pleased."

"I have not really thought much about it," Catherine sighed, "A baby is a big change and I'm just getting used to my life here."

Alexandra grinned. "A baby doesn't come all of a sudden. It takes time. You will be settled into your life when your baby comes, but he will be a welcome change, don't you think?"

She chuckled and shrugged, bending to slip her boots on, "I hope so. Why did you assume the baby would be a boy?"

Alexandra looked at her. "It is no secret that the dothraki fathers pray for a male child. I'm sure Akeson would be happy with either, though."

Catherine nodded, lacing the boots up swiftly, "Do you think so? I don't want him to hate me if I end up having a daughter."

"I am sure he couldn't possibly hate you," Alexandra soothed. "He is a kind man, despite his rough edges."

Catherine sighed and rubbed her belly, "You're right, but I can't help but worry."

Alexandra looked at her. "Are you going to tell him?"

Catherine pursed her lips, "Should I tell him right away or wait until I'm sure?"

"I would wait until you are absolutely sure," she replied.

Fast forward to another two weeks and Catherine was just finishing up a checkup with the midwife. Her stomach was definitely stiff and only very slightly distended, which was making her pretty sure that Alexandra had been right. Her thoughts were confirmed by the midwife- she was pregnant. Around three-four weeks along at this point. Catherine was able to express gratitude to the midwife in halting Dothraki- they didn't have a word for thank you.

Now, she was sitting on the cot, her hands folded in her lap. She had no choice but to tell Akeson now that it was confirmed.

Khal Akeson was currently training with several of his friends.

Alexandra had been nearby during the whole meeting with the midwife. She smiled hesitantly at Catherine. "So. It's true."

Catherine nodded, her gaze flicking to Alexandra's face, "Yes, it's true. I'm actually pregnant.."

"How do you feel about that?" she asked gently.

Catherine's eyebrows furrowed, "Happy, I think. It shouldn't be a bad thing. I feel concerned already. I don't know how to be a good mother."

"I think I said it before once- it's a learn-on-the-job thing."
