Aron grinned and walked over to the bed. He gripped the top of the towel threatening to pull it off her. "I like it when you lose your self control."

Valerie twitched in surprise but made a high pitch sound in the back of her throat, her eyes dark, her body automatically rising up to meet him. "Stop." It was a tiny word, so quiet and she was absolutely positive he knew that she didn't mean it.

"Now, is that what you really want?" Aron asked teasingly. He brushed a kiss against the corner of her mouth. "Just say the word and I'll stop."

Valerie mewled again, "No, I want you. Always."

"Mmm, I thought so." He kissed her gently and then backed away. "Unfortunately, I have to get dressed. I have somewhere to be."

Valerie immediately sobered. "What?"

"Hey, I do have a life. Money doesn't grow on trees, you know." Aron got dressed quickly in jeans and a t-shirt, then grabbed a leather jacket out of his closet.

"Sorry. I just never thought of you as being a person who had places to be." She quickly pulled on her clothes. "I'll see you later I guess." She went to the front door, cracked it open and turned, nosing it open the rest of the way.

Aron followed her out and locked the door behind them. "Come over at three, okay?"

Valerie barked once then ran home.

Aron spent the day 'working,' which in his case mostly meant gambling. Pool and poker mostly. It was how he made his money, since he didn't have a real job and would never be able to hold one, so it was a good thing he was good at it. He bounced from bar to bar, not staying in one place for long, in case the patrons got mad at him for taking their money.

Isaiah was incredibly happy to see her. And Valerie obediently wiggled and barked and wagged. Even her dog body felt different though, a reminder of her time with Aron.

Once Aron had a pocket full of cash, he headed home to wait for Val. A smile spread on his face just at the thought of seeing her again.

Valerie whined at the door. It took Isaiah and unbearably long time to let him out. When he finally did she ran to Aron's house. The need to see him and be with him was overwhelming.

When she got there, though, Aron was gone. His apartment was spotless and completely cleared out. Any personal possessions, though he had few, were gone, and his dresser and closet were empty. The fridge and cupboards were empty. The evidence was over-whelming: it seemed Aron had run.

Valerie turned as she walked through the house. She felt like crying. Aron was gone. She should have known, of course he would leave her, she should've seen it, being drunk, kicking her out of the house. Of course he would leave her. She collapsed in the now empty bedroom and cried. She never should have trusted him.

There was a creak from the front door and then a soft footstep as someone entered. The person walked across the room to the window, pulling aside the drapes to peer outside. "Interesting..." he murmured.

When Valerie was done crying, she stood and left the house and didn't look back. Mistakes had been made in the house, they need not be remembered. She walked, and walked, and walked, until she reached a cheap hotel and got a room. Admitting to herself that while she felt guilty, nipping a few bills and change here and there from Isaiah was definitely needed right now.
