Burn wiggled his fingers. "Perks of being a warlock," he said. "Conjuring is easy."

"I guess! What else can you do?"

"Lots of stuff," Burn replied. "You'll have to be more specific."

Valerie gave him a look. "I don't know, in general, your favorite things to do."

Burn shrugged. "Okay. I like healing. It's what I'm best at."

Valerie grew silent. "Do you think you'll need to use that... with Aron?"

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"I hope not," he said. "But the possibility is likely."

Valerie swallowed and looked at her fingers woven together in her lap. "Oh."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Burn glanced over at her, frowning. "Hey, try not to think about it. What happens will happen, and you can't change what has already happened. So don't fret."

"I can't help it. I try to push the ideas away but they keep coming back." She laughed nervously. "Happen to have any potions on you?"

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Sure. What kind of potions?" he asked. "My abilities aren't particularly versatile. Most of my potions are the healing type."

"Such a thing as a nerve calming potion?"

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"I think I can dig something up," Burn said. "My suitcase is in the back seat. There's a case of vials in the main section."

Valerie reached into the back, grabbed his suitcase and opened it. She looked to see if anything was labeled.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"If there's one in there, it will be a kind of dark green in coloring," Burn told her.

Valerie sifted through the vials then held one up. "This one?"

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Burn glanced over at her. "Yup, that's it. You got any water handy?"

Valerie gave him a whithering look. "What do you think."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Mmm, well. Better brace yourself then," he said. "That stuff isn't going to taste great."

Valerie scrunched up her nose and swallowed the potion like a shot. "Oh yuck. That is disgusting." It was quick and efficient though. She was no longer quite so worried about what they were going to find. Not quite so panicked about whether or not Aron really had any feelings for her. The emotions were there, but dampened, she could step back and look at them now for what they were.
