Burn placed the coin in his palm and held out his hand to her. "Take my hand again. Do the same thing you did before; focus on him."

Valerie did as she was told, this time, she didn't bother to repress her private memories of him, she let them flow and blushed when her body reacted to some choice memories, hoping Burn's eyes were closed too.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Once again, images flashed behind Burn's closed eyes. It was as if he were moving through the town in fast motion, leading him to his target. Past the edges of the town and right up to the HQ building--he'd been afraid of thing. It kept moving, though, through the door and up a flight up stairs, all the way to a room on the second floor. The images rewound at an even faster speed, and Burn opened his eyes. "I've got him."

Valerie pulled herself out of her memories. "Let's go then."

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Burn turned their hands over and dropped the coin into her palm before letting go. He started forward again, until they reached the edge of the town.

Once they were in sight of the town, Valerie looked shiftily at Burn, what were they going to do now? They were only two supernatural beings against an entire army. The odds did not look good.

"Keep to the shadows, like we have been," Burn said. "No one will be able to hear us."

Valerie nodded, she was starting to get anxious again. How was Aron? Did he even want to see her?

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Every now and then, a patrolling soldier would walk by, and Burn would pull her against the nearest building, out of sight. They made it all the way to the building where Aron was and slipped inside unnoticed.

Valerie was growing more ancious. She needed Aron to be ok

Footsteps sounded coming down the hall, so Burn grabbed Valerie's arm and yanked her into the nearest room to hide. The footsteps paused outside the door, and thought Burn knew the person wouldn't be able to hear them, he held his breath. Then they started walking again, and he let out a sigh of relief.

Valerie froze in the hall way, her fingers barely clutching Burn. She could feel him, she knew where he was. They needed to hurry but she couldn´t make her feet move.

"Let's go," Burn said softly. He tugged her forward again and started up the stairs to the next floor.

Valerie began to jog. She needed to get to Aron. She knew that now.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Burn heard another person coming toward them. He looked around frantically for somewhere to hide, but the man came around the corner before he could. He froze when he saw Burn standing there with Valerie. The man wore the loose gold-trimmed black uniform of the Legion, and a belt of knives was slung around his waist. His usually messy dark hair was brushed back neatly. It hardly looked like Aron at all, but his intense green eyes gave him away, especially the way he was looking at Val.

Valerie froze. Was that even Aron? She felt a sudden disconnect with him and any need she had to find him disappeared. Burn had been wrong. Aron never loved her, he couldn't have, he wouldn't have. It couldn't be real.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Aron gave his head a small shake and an emotional wall came down over his face. He looked over his shoulder and walked over to them quickly. "What are you two doing here?" he demanded in a whisper.

"You sent me a message," Burn said calmly.

Aron took a deep breath. He didn't look at Valerie. "Okay, what is she doing here?"

Valerie felt her heart rip itself out of her chest and fall to the ground before shattering and rotting. She coiled back behind Burn and turned, she didn't want to risk saying anything.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Burn narrowed his eyes. "I thought it a good idea to bring her."

"You thought--" He stopped and took a deep breath, and then continued in a quieter voice. "You thought it was a good idea to bring a shapeshifter into the highest concentration of Malum on the planet? Are you completely insane?"

Valerie growled deep in her throat. He really didn't want her here. She turned abruptly and ran back the way they had come. She knew that as long as Aron didn't turn, she could out run them both. She could run far far away and pretend none of this had ever happened to her.
