Burn swore and then something else in the rough warlock language and a blast of air threw Valerie away from him. "Damn it, you stupid girl," he growled as he advanced on her. Another spell pinned her in place so she couldn't run.

Valerie snarled again, snapping her teeth, but she knew it was no good.

While she was immobilized, he opened a portal and then forced her through it. They emerged in his apartment.

Valerie lay still and silent. She wondered if she stayed in this form forever if she would live dog years and die sooner. She was sure burn would know but she didn't dare ask him

"Would you please shift back, luv?" Burn asked. "I don't particularly like animals in my house." He raised his eyebrows at the Doberman on the floor. "Your paws are a tad bit dirty."

Valerie snarled and snapped her jaws again before turning away from him, a rumble still deep in her chest.

Burn heaved a sigh. One of the few things he couldn't do with his magic was force shifters into their different forms. Now that would have been something. "Would you rather me tie you up outside?"

Valerie stood up, and went over to stand by the door, looking back at Burn, squinting her eyes.

Burn narrowed his eyes at her and then shrugged. "Very well." He disappeared into another room and returned with a long chain--God only knew why he had that laying around the house. "Let's go then," he said with feigned cheerfulness.

Valerie just stared at him with her dark eyes, following him out into the yard

Burn chained her to a tree and then disappeared back inside. When he returned, he set down a bowl full of water at her feet. "I hope you don't mind rain. It looks like a storm's blowing in."

Valerie looked at him blankly, the dropped to the ground, her head between her paws. She knew she looked pitiful but she couldn't care.

Burn shook his head and returned inside. A few days out there and she'd give in... at least he hoped she would. He wasn't accustom to dealing with stubborn young women, or really women at all. It was all very new to him, despite his age.

Valerie let the first drops of rain fall on her. By the time the real rain came her coat was already wet and soppy and she felt that now she must look as miserable as she truly felt.

Burn sat on his couch and listened to the rain drum against the window. He tried to imagine Valerie laying out there in the storm. He would never understand what heartbreak did to people; he'd never been in love.

When the rain stopped, Valerie hardly noticed. She didn't stand up to shake herself off or even move from the puddle of mud that had gathered around her. Eventually the sun might come and she might dry off.

Eventually Burn retired to his bedroom to get some sleep. When the sun rose in the morning, he got dressed and went outside to check on Valerie. He doubted she had changed her mind at that point, but he could try, and maybe entice her with some food.

Valerie had only moved to readjust her body when her limbs got tingly with potential numbness. She was in the same spot, the mud still on her fur. Only her ears twitched when she heard Burn come outside.

Burn looked her over and felt a small pang of guilt. He felt bad putting her through this, but it was for the best. She would pull out of the slump and get on with her life, and they he could get back to his. "Morning, love," he said. "Sleep well?"

Valerie turned her head away from him, sighing. If she could go home...maybe then, just maybe, she'd be able to forget about Aron and everything that happened and return to her normal life with Isaiah.
