Daemon broke into a faint grin at the tone of her voice. "I want to kiss you again," he said. "And I think you want to kiss me again, too."

Felicity scoffed. "Definitely not."

Daemon leaned a little closer, so his breath brushed her cheek. "Are you sure about that?" Being this close, his heartbeat picked up, and he seriously doubted that her didn't.

Felicity shoved him back. "Yes. I am."

Daemon caught her wrist, just in case she tried to hit him. "Then why did you do it?" he asked.

"I haven't got a clue! And it was stupid."

"Probably stupid, yeah," Daemon agreed. Everything about their relationship was stupid. "If you're so determined to avoid me, why come here?"

"I don't know where else to go, I only have three places I can be!"

"I never saw you here until about a week ago," Daemon said. "And yet now you're here all the time. What changed?"

"I don't know. I guess I remembered I like people watching. How is this any of your business anyway?"

Daemon narrowed his eyes, his lips pulled tight. "I guess it's not. I guess I'll leave you alone from now on, since you clearly never liked me in the first place." He scoffed and stepped closer. "Nice meeting you, Felicity." Then he brushed past him, bumping her shoulder as he went, and walked down the bar to take a seat.

Felicity stared gaping after him. She didn't know if she should chase him or not but if she did how was she supposed to explain her incredible fear of relationships, that she liked him but she couldn't trust anyone. She sighed and ran out side, but not to chase him, to collapse in the alley against a wall and silently cry her frustrations.

Daemon looked over his shoulder and grimaced as her figure disappeared out the door. Part of him--the angry, bitter, rejected part--told him to forget her and move on. Find some bimbo to play around with. An unfamiliar part told him he'd upset her and needed to fix it. God, why did he have to actually care about this girl? She kept pushing him away, but he felt guilty for every mean word he said to her.

"Damn it," he muttered. He stood up rather violently, almost knocking the bar stood over. He wove his way through the crowd to get to the door, pausing outside and glancing around for her.

Felicity sat hunched against her knees, her arms wrapped around her legs, rocking back and forth, the curve of her spine smacking the brick wall rhythmically. If only everything would go away. If the entire would could just evaporate.

Daemon frowned when he realized she was nowhere in sight. Then he heard something coming from the alley, though he wasn't sure what. Cautiously, he made his way over and peeked around the corner, finding her rocking on the asphalt.

She had no worth here. She just took up space and acted as a practice target for deuche bags.

"Felicity?" Daemon said quietly. He didn't dare approach her, just stayed at his stop by the mouth of the alley.

She didn't say anything but she stopped sniffling. She curled around herself tighter, hoping she could disappear.

Daemon closed his eyes for a moment and then stepped forward cautiously. He still didn't approach her, instead walking to sit across from her on the other side of the alley. "I hope you're not crying because of me," he said. Perhaps not the most comforting words, but it was him.

Felicity scoffed ever so slightly. "Don't flatter yourself." She snapped. But mostly he was right, even if there were other reasons.
