Lanna glared at him. "You wouldn't know, would you? Here you were, living the past years in comfort- Sven and the rest kept you warm at night, you had all the women you could want. I was here, stealing my loaf of bread and running from the law at every step. If you had been through what I have been through, you would understand why I don't let anybody near me. I'm leaving."
She stood with ultimate grace, took her bread and cheese from the waitress who was just getting back, and stormed out of the tavern. That was just like Bo, just like she remembered. She just needed to get away from him. She knew what happened when she let somebody get close to her- she would just get abandoned in the dust again, alone, cold..
Bo stared at the table, clenching and unclenching his jaw and fingers. He felt a spark of irritation flicker in his stomach, though he didn't do anything about it. The woman came back with their food and looked slightly surprised to see Alanna gone, though said nothing about it. Bo ate in silence, almost numbly.
It was the day after Alanna had met Bo for the first time in years, and Alanna was angry. He was just like she had remembered- dreamy, not serious. She sighed as she leaned against the wall in the nicer part of time, looking for a vulnerable stand. She doubted she would see anybody she knew- including Bo- here, as it was a nice part of town and all two of her friends were good-for-nothings.
Bo whistled as he walked down the streets, a hand stuffed in his pockets, as her twirled a key in his fingers. He had heard that Lanna was up here somewhere and had wanted to make it up to her for last night. However, that didn't stop him from winking at the ladies who passed by. He got a couple giggles, though most of them ignored him. Not that he was complaining, mind you.
When he finally saw her, he called out, "Lanna! There you are, I've been looking for you."
Alanna looked at him, making it clear she was none too happy to see him. As soon as she saw him, she started walking away. She desperately didn't want to talk to him, especially when she had her eye on a particularly wealthy-looking pocket to pick.
"Hey! Lanna, wait up!" He called, picking up his pace. He soon matched her stride with his and fell into step beside her. "I just wanted to apologize for last night; it was rude of me to say and I stepped out of line. Could you forgive me?"
He brightened instantly and drew her into a sudden and tight hug. "Oh that's great! I couldn't imagine us not being nice to one another. I am really sorry; I guess I got ahead of myself, I was just so excited to see you..." Bo did look sorry, there wasn't a hint of sneakiness.
He let go of their hug and took a couple steps back. "Great! Now what do you say to going out to dinner; this time without any flouncing women or lecherous men. Just the two of us!"
She weighed the options. If she went with him, he might pay for the food, thus keeping her money amounts the same. If she refused, they would either go up or she could get arrested. "Very well. But only a few hours, okay? I need to keep up."
"Excellent!" He threw his hands up in celebration. "And of course, have I ever lied to you?" Bo suddenly grabbed her hands and started to tug her down to the entrance of Caerleon. "I already have it set up," he said over his shoulder, without pausing to take a breath.
As they neared the outskirts of the kingdom, he turned left sharply. "Ta-da!" He dropped his hand from her and spread his arms outwards. He had brought her to a large courtyard. It had not been paved over by cobblestone, and instead, had finely cut grass. Planted flowers lined the perimeter, coming in shades of light blue to a pastel purple. In the center of the courtyard stood four tall trees in a square, their branches shifting from the wind. In the middle of the four trees was a laid out picnic basket with a red plaid blanket spread out underneath it.
"So...how do you like it?" He asked finally, looking a bit worried, "is it fine?"
Alanna smiled as soon as she saw it. "How cute! Did you do this? That's very sweet," she exclaimed. She walked forward and examined it. "I love it, Bo," she said happily.
He gave a smirk and put his hands on his hips. "Well, I wouldn't say it was all done by me. But yeah, I set it up and everything." His smile softened as he stepped beside her. "I'm really glad you like it though." Bo turned silent, looking like he wanted to say something else.
"Er...well, you see, Sven wants to leave early; apparently he p*ssed off a couple of nobles..." He grimaced before continuing, "I have to leave with them...unless I have a really good reason to stay here - you know how Sven is: he hates to let his people go unless he lets then go himself. So...I might have to leave too."
