The Wood family was old money, deriving from the older Lightwood family, who were prosperous, intelligent, and highly respected in the Downworld community. After so many scandals, their name had been slightly marred, but no less considered one to be praised for their previous accomplishments, and the men and women they raised to be fine Shadowhunters. The most recent Woods, Emily and Arthur Wood, were kind, understanding people who did everything in their power to make right in the world. They gave to the poor, assisted the needy, and when push came to shove, only killed those demons who posed an immediate threat to the mortal community. It was quite ironic when they themselves were hunted down, by those that they believed wouldn't do harm. Why they were hunted down like lambs, their offspring, the final generation of Woods', did not know. But the boy running through the valley of shadows, more commonly known as the backstreets of New York, was determined to find out, whether it sacrificed his very life or not.
Joshua Wood, the eldest in a two sibling duo, was fast, witty, and above all, arrogant. He was confident and cocky, and cared nothing for others, very much a 180-degree turn from how his parents once were. Some say it was because of their death that the happy go-lucky, optomistic and cuddly male was interchanged for someone with a harder shell and a stronger backbone. Others say without their parents constant watch over them, Joshua unleashed the demon that had been lurking within.
No matter the story, though, the truth would never be revealed, and not by Joshua himself. He had no care for getting close to anyone, friend or foe. He was a neutral party. His only mission: To kill anything that threatened the mundane community, or his last remaining relative.
