Lizzie Maxwell Ray sat on her bed back pressed against the wall, music pounding in her ears from her black Ipod. Her room was quite tidy, though her dresser revealed how little she cared for it generally as clothing seemed to be trying to escape from draws jammed open. A few posters from various movies decorated her walls, a silver sword propped against the wall near the entrance to the room. At the moment, her door happened to be shut, because Lizzie wanted some privacy for a bit whilst she read through a book. Lizzie felt a strange mix of happiness and sadness being back in New York, whilst the Institute here slowly became more like a home to her she still missed her family. This was most apparent when she returned to New York after visiting them for a none to brief three months. Any who long story short, some demons needed to be dealt with, Lizzie could not leave whilst they needed her help.
So now Lizzie was finally back in New York, only two and a half months after she had been meant to get back here for. Of course, when she arrived there had been no one home so she took her things upstairs and let herself back into her room, before closing the door. At the moment she just wanted a bit of time to herself, bury her head in a good book and lose herself in the pages.
Jo walked down the street she watched as people walked passed her not even giving her a glance. Jo blended well, she was just another background character. Jo watched a tall girl walk past, her long blonde hair flowed in the wind behind her. Jo sighed combing her fingers through her short hair. Jo quickly entered the institute, she was so excited to meet the new girl. Jo ran down the hall and slide in front of the once empty room. The door was cracked open and Jo peeked in, she saw clothes stuffed into draws and a red haired girl sitting on the bed. Jo slowly pushed the door open and walked in looking around at the posters. "Wow nice room." Jo said looking over at the girl, she noticed she didn't hear her. "NICE ROOM!" Jo yelled.

Lizzie looked up hearing the voice and not recognising the girl who now stood in her room. She switched off the music, before saving her place in her book with a handy bookmark. Lizzie shook her head causing the earphones to fall out. "Thanks... I think." Lizzie's room was not the tidiest place ever, but every time she made it perfectly tidy it failed to feel like her room or somewhere she could live. "I'm Lizzie." She introduced herself, her voice filled with a thick Scottish accent. Lizzie had never met the girl in her room till now, she must have been a new arrival. One who came whilst Lizzie was away for a long well to put it accurately, an extended period of time.
Jo smiled, "I'm Jolie Abate but you can just call me Jo!" Jo had never met Lizzie but she had heard of her. Jo hasn't made any friends since she had entered the institute. Jo isn't the top of her class and she would rather be out in the mundane world than inside trapped away but she always wanted a friend who could understand her. "You want to train together? I really want to see your skills!" Jo was almost bouncing just thinking about it.

"Nice meet you Jo then." She smiled at her but wondered why she had decided to peak into Lizzie's room. "Sure sounds like a fun thing to do but not right now I am a bit tired from the last few days." Well weeks to be honest, Lizzie just wanted to sit down and relax for a while. De-stress really. Course, she doubted that for long she would be able to have what she believed to be some well earned rest and relaxation. R and R would be a rare thing for a Shadowhunter, the threat of the demons never rested so she could not afford to sit down for too long. Plus if it wasn't the demons then there were all the downworlders, such as the vampires, werewolves, warlocks and the fae out causing trouble, with the Shadowhunters trying to keep the peace between all of them too.
Jo understood, she shrugged as she left the room trying not to show her disappointment. "I'll see you around then?" Jo turned back to give a quick smile and close the door behind her. Jo walked down the hall, she wasn't a very skilled fighter but she is an aggressive fighter which makes people not want to practice with fight to the death Jo. Jo finally reached her room after a slow five minuet walk down the hall and swung open her door with frustration. "I need to become a better fighter!" Jo yelled slamming her door shut and jumping onto her bed. Stuffing her face into a pillow Jo made herself sleep, she was out all night looking for Demons.

"Yeah sorry." Lizzie responded, she would not have minded training tomorrow however right now or rather today she didn't want to anything but relax, lose the stresses from over the last few days. She returned to her reading before listening to her music for a bit longer. Eventually she decided to call it a night, changing into her pyjamas, settling down in her bed. At first she thought sleep would not come, however as soon as her eyes closed she fell into a deep sleep.
Jo woke up to silence it was weird for her, Jo used to live with her family and it was always assume before asking. Jo rolled over onto her back from her side and laid for a moment just staring up at the ceiling. 'What am I doing here?' Jo asked herself. Jo has barely learned anything while she has been here, and not to mention is way more lonely. Jo let out a annoyed sigh before sliding off her bed and tasting her nasty breath. She grabbed her toothbrush and headed down the hallway, Jo couldn't believe she was so frustrated that she didn't change or brush her teeth last night. Walking into the bathroom Jo finally brushed her teeth and smelled her own breath to check it. "Minty." Jo whispered to herself.

Lizzie had been up for a while, she was used to rising early. Besides a bad dream disturbed her, so she gave up, getting up far earlier than she would have preferred. The young shadowhunter, made her way to the kitchen. She started to fry up a full English breakfast, bacon, mushrooms, sausages, toast, fried egg, grill tomatoes... The full works really.
Jo stops as soon as she walks out of the bathroom, the smell of food drove her stomach crazy. Jo pushed herself into her room and placed her toothbrush in a 'I love dogs' mug next to her bed. Jo then made her way towards the kitchen, most of the time she eats out or bring left overs from going out to dinner but she didn't have any. Jo walked into the kitchen to investigate.

Lizzie finished cooking breakfast, she sucked at portion sizes so there was inevitably far too much for her alone to eat. As she was dishing up, Lizzie turned around to see Jo walk into the kitchen. "Feel free to have some." She offered as there was plenty of food available. It seemed somewhat rude for her to deny her the food, especially as there was too much.

To say Lizzie had left Jo the left overs would have been an understatement, Lizzie cooked far too much, like way to much. The food was alright, some of it a bit over done but that could be expected since she wasn't a great cook to begin with. She sat down at the table. "No problem, I always cook far too much anyway." With that she quietly began to eat her food. So it wasn't the healthiest way to start your day but food was food.
Jo finished way before Lizzie, and she couldn't wait to ask if Lizzie now wanted to train with her. Jo watched Lizzie take every bite, 'come on come on... don't be rude- just wait!' Jo told herself.

Lizzie ate her food at a decent pace, but no where near fast enough to match Jo. Wow now that is a girl who could go and win some food competitions. She finally finished, now they would need to let it go down before they trained. Unless of course they wanted to be sick because they weren't able to exercise heavily on a full stomach.
