Kit looked back at the crystal and took a tentative step forward. He reached out and gently pressed his hand against it.

Kit wanted to retract his hand in sheer surprise, his shoulders stiffening as soon as the light burst forth. It was strong, but he found that he didn't have to close his eyes in order to protect himself from the intensity.

An elegant ghostly hand reaches out and touches his arm," My King... Are you afraid?" The voice sings

"Afraid?" He had to think about that for a moment, then shook his head, "No, not afraid. This is all a little strange, but I'm not afraid."

" and what about rulig a kingdom?" The spirit asks softly, a beautiful woman sitting on the stone and holding his hand," Are you not afraid of that, my king?"

His face flushed lightly and Kit focused on the woman's face, "I've never ruled anything," he admitted, "I've never even had my own house. I wasn't raised to rule a kingdom, so I have no idea what I'm doing."

" So you are afraid," the young woman says softy, long white hair floating like she was under water," But.... The Fox... Do you beleive she will help you?"

"Fae? I don't know if she trusts me yet," Kit replied, looking unsure, "She didn't seem happy when I told her who I was."

" She was expecting a Theodore..." The spirit sings softly, gazing at him with eyes that glowed the same gentle blue as the orb," I have watched the Royal family evolve throughout the ages but by far your generation has been the most.... Hurt," she frowns sadly, her expression alone was that of deep pain," I wish i could help... Alas..." Her eyes flicker back to him," I'm merely the ghost of the First Princess..."

Her gaze becomes clouded again," I... Do not remember my name... And though i was once a royal.. I was married into your family by force... I am not a relative... Just a guardian."

" I guard your stories... So you will never be forgotten," She answers gently, standing and approaching him, the gentle white glow of her skin seeming to light up his face slightly as she approaches him, she have been no more than his age when she had...

She was beautiful, even in her ghostly appearance. Kit was no fool and could see that plainly. He watched her as she drew near, "A guardian of history," he smiled.

She smiles back and tilts her head," Yes, My King..." She holds out a hand to him, her elegant fingers stretching toward him invitingly," Give me your hand... I need to remember you."

Kit smiled brighter and clasped her hand softly in his, "Of course.."

She closes her fongers around his, squeezing his hand. It felt almost like warm air and nothing more... She smiles slightly at him, a smile of the sadness of hundreds of people who had experience agony and joy and victory and grief...

Kit felt a warmth wash over him at her touch, like he was lying in bed with a fire in the hearth warming the room. He watched her solemnly, seeing the strain of remembrance on her face.

She blinks, her gaze moving as she watches his memories. She gently withdraws her hand and turns her back, her white hair still sweeping to the side as if she was floating in water,"... Your ancestors... They grieve for this genration of youths..."
