Phoenix shrugged, but her words brought him up short. "I don't know..." he said slowly.

She stared in a direction without saying another word

Max looked at her.

Phoenix frowned and turned in a slow circle. Jen was right: no one was around. They were in the middle of a park. Someone should be there, but it was completely empty. That was when he noticed the battleships in the sky. "Uh-oh," he whispered.

Max looked up and smiled, "look ships" he said

"That's bad," Phoenix said, still stunned. "Bad, bad, bad. Those are Sontaran ships."

Max watched the ships "but they look so cool"

Jen was about two miles away by then, searching for the inhabitants

"The Sontarans are a warrior race," Phoenix said. "They love war and destruction and kill without mercy. We have to get out of here."

Max looked around "wheres Jenny?" He paniked

She saw a 'town' and rushed to it

Phoenix blinked and looked around. "No, no, no," he said, turning in a circle again. "Jen!" He spotted her in the distance and ran after her, grabbing Max's hand as he did. "Come back!"

"Jennifer!" Phoenix shouted after her. "Hide! Get somewhere safe! They're coming."

She looked back at him, hearing his voice but just as she went to run o him a aloen grabbed her from behind, grasping her around her waist

"Don't you dare hurt her!" Phoenix said as he skidded to a halt in front of them. "Touch one hair on her head...." He said threateningly.

Phoenix held up his hands. "We're just a couple of wayward travelers," he said. "There's no need for violence."

She huffed and laid limp

Along with his other powers, Phoenix had the ability to understand any language. It came in handy in other galaxies. "We... ahhh... crash-landed," Phoenix replied. "Not too long ago. We walked from the wreck, hoping to find a city."
