Cei opened his dark eyes and looked at Carter with a sheepish smile, "Yes, sir."

He nodded then picked it up "go tell one of the other servants to get the family, dinner is prepared, and hurry i shall out it out" he said taking a large platter on each hand

Cei jumped up with a smile and nodded eagerly, "Yes sir!" He replied, scurrying out of the room.

He dashed away with the platters arranging them all beautifully on the table then standing by the door to open it for the king.

After dinner, Cei helped the other servants clean up the dining hall, gathering empty plates and goblets.

He wasnt anywhere in sight, instead at the foot of the kings bed being scolded, when he came back down to help he had a cut across his cheek which he tried to ignore as he helped the others.

Cei's dark eyes didn't miss the cut, however, though he kept his head down and kept to his duties. He couldn't be caught shirking his responsibilities.

Once the food was all out of the main dining area he let the servants have their fill as he cleaned.

"Carter?" Cei approached the older servant from behind, speaking quietly.

"Yes?" He asked continuing with cleaning.

"Can you...turn around?" He asked, pursing his lips.

Cei sighed and slipped around so he could see his face. He held a wet rag up to Carter's cheek, gently dabbing at the cut.

He winced slightly and pulled away, trying to focus on the dishes, "its only my hands i cant feel pain in" he said.

"It needs to be cleaned, though," Cei told him, frowning, "It can get infected."

He stopped cleaning and sighed, turning to him and closing his eyes "fine, just do it quickly".

The boy stood in his tiptoes, dabbing the cut swiftly, but firmly. He cleaned away any blood to make sure it wasn't too deep, "I'm sorry," he murmured, feeling bad for hurting him.
