She tried it and succeeded jumping up happily her tails swishing back and forth behind her back and her ears perking beneath the hood without her realizing it.

"Watch those ears, kitty cat." He teased in a light, friendly manner as he noticed her ears perk up.

she tilted her head confused as a small child looked up at her and smiled "kitty!" then without being supervised walked over and went to grab one of her swishing tails causing her to turn and point a shotgun, which seemingly appeared from nothing at the child with dark frightened eyes, her ears pinning back while also shaking as she hissed at the person.

"No!" Dakota said suddenly, picking up the child and spinning her around in his arms to distract her from seeing Shiko with the gun. "She's not a cat silly!" He grinned. He loved children and was good with them. "Now, where's your mummy?" He asked with a sincere smile.

The child giggled and poked his nose "but the kitty had a tail and ears"

She realized it was a child and whimpered, hiding the gun in her body as always and dashing off, horrified she would point a gun at a child.

"Just a costume." He spun her with a laugh, setting her down. "Now, go find your mummy and be a good girl, all right?" He poked her nose as well.

She giggled and ran off "bye cat girl and nice boy" she said before skipping off.

She hid behind a trailer, her legs curled up against her chest and her head on her knees, her ears shaking in fright and her arms wrapped around her legs.

Dakota smiled at the girl as she ran off before chasing after Shiko, finding her curled up behind a trailer. "Shiko? Are you alright?" He asked carefully.

"Im horrible, i almost shot that poor girl just because i cant control myself" she said holding herself tighter.

"It's alright I took care of it. Things happen, we can't always control our situations." He crouched down beside her.

She shook her hea "but i cant even control
Myself enough to just barely turn around and realize it was just a child" she whimpered.

"Shiko, look at me." He said quietly, placing a gentle, comforting hand on her shoulder.

She tilted her head slightly to gaze at him.

He met her gaze, holding it with his blue eyes that were so pale they were almost white. "Things happen, the important thing is that you didn't do anything to harm her. I don't think you would have." He gave her a smile, just as sincere as the one he had given the little girl.

She looked back down with a thoughtful gaze "o-ok" she said, "please dont hesitate to pull me back if i make another mistake."

"Don't worry. The only worry I had was exposing us to a regular human. But she didn't see much, including well. . ." He pointed at her hand, indicating the shotgun but he didn't want to directly say anything about it.

The sincere smile remained on his face as he stood and held hs hand out to her to help her up

She took his hand reluctantly and then stood up, barely any weight on his hand.
