The heels of her loose ankle boots made a disruptive click every time she took a step. Wincing every time she moved forward, she hugs her Magical Creatures book to her ribs underneath her long dark cloak. She wore a warning sign-yellow scarf with black stripes around her neck, and several little trinkets jingled along with the noise of her boots.
She was late to class. Again. This time though, she managed to even bring the wrong book--which was why she decided to skip altogether. But then she ran into one of the heads of the houses and fled the scene when several potion bottles hit the ground and exploded. Today wasn't Siphilis's day--but she could take comfort in the fact that it was almost time for passing period.

From down the corridor came a loud, boisterous laugh. A mop of golden-blonde hair ducked under one of the marble rails of the swinging staircases and there stood a boy, perhaps 16 years of age, balancing precariously upon the edge of the step and past the rail as the entire staircase swung entirely in another direction. Rather than backing away in terror, the young wizard simply grinned and closed his amber eyes, relishing the slight breeze from the movement. As the staircase came lurched to a halt, Joseph Wiggins ducked out and hopped all the way down to the marble floors, managing to somehow land on his feet in one piece. He gave a quiet sigh and looked up, eyebrows raised, when he noticed the girl.
"How did you DO that?" She suddenly asks without thinking, her navy blue eyes wide with admiration. "Or uh... My names Syph. That was really, really wicked," she praises. She grabs the end of her scarf and wraps it back around her neck, tossing the length behind her shoulder.

At her praise, the young man flashed a glowing smile. He gave a slight laugh, running a hand through his tousled blonde hair. "Oh, that? Tha' was nothing." Joey admitted graciously, walking towards her. Without waiting for a pre-amble, he took her hand and gave it a vigorous shake, almost-goofy smile still on his face. "Name's Joseph, but call me Joey!" he added brightly. "And tha' thing with the stairs isn't very difficult. I can show you how?" he offered.
