She stood and smoothed her dress, "I..I don't doubt that."

Briar took a deep breath, "Yes, I know. That's alright, I can deal with him."

"I will be with you, daughter." Anita had a look of such motherly concern on her face that it seemed she and Briar were related. She touched Briar's cheek with a finger and smiled. "Remember that."

She nodded. "Good. Now, tell me - what do you think of your father?"

She shrugged one shoulder, "Well, he's my father, so I guess I love him.."

She rubbed the back of her neck, "Well, I'm not that happy about how he doesn't respect what I say I am, but he is a good leader.."

She frowned softly, stroking Briar's hair with a free hand. "Daughter, there is no worry that you are not female, is there? If he thinks differently, then he needs surgery."

Anita shook her head. Her face was set with determination. "It's not alright with me, Briar. While I am here, this place is to be fair."
