The boy looked around, seeing no one else but the two of them. "Well, this seems fine then, in my opinion. Well, that's two questions for me and one for you. You can ask another one, to make it fair." He mused with a chuckle

"Why are you out here?" She finally asked after a few moments of thought.

He shrugged. "Same as you, I suppose. Less people and more space to think." He replied. "Now, another question for me: What is your name?"

She looked back up at him "my name? Its Miku, and yours?"

"Dunkel." He replied with a slight nod, the name sounding foreign. "Now, a fourth question, if I may continue: What order are you from? You seem like and Erudite, yet I see none of our identifying blue on you."

She hesitated before telling him "my parents were dauntless"

He looked at her in surprise. "Truly? My father was dauntless and my mother Erudite. Why did you come to Erudite if your family is Dauntless?"

"They asked me too, and i wasnt too well suited for Dauntless behavior" she said honestly.

Dunkel nodded as he took this in, scratching his chin. "Alright. You can ask me two questions of your choosing, and we'll be fair once again."

"Well why are you Eurdite?" She asked first beginning to wonder the same questions he had.

Dunkel shrugged. "Curiousity." He replied. "I wonder on how things work, such as people." He added, holding up his book for a moment before dropping his hand to his side once more. "That's one." he counted

She then paused again to think then just blurted out the first question that came to mind "how old are you?"

He blinked and then laughed at the randomness of her question. "Nineteen. How old did you think I was?" He returned

She shrugged "i didnt know, thats why i asked" she said.

[deepwallow]

"Hmm…. Acceptable. And thus you earn one more question." He said, an amused smile on his face

She looked into his eyes and chuckled softly before shaking her head "i cant think of any others but if you have any fell free to ask"

He met her eyes, his not falling into hers trustingly like so many others. His held secrets, sinister and long locked away, but his eyes unveiled much of other while giving away nothing on their account. "Very well. Do you visit your parents often then?"

She shook her head no then her small smile once again faded "they never wanted me, they almost killed me as a child but then just decided to force me into becoming something other than what a dauntless should be" she explained.

Dunkel listened intently, though his face held no judgement of her, only calculated thought. "You have my sympathy, for what it is worth." He said finally. "Though I doubt it is much, if any."

She shook her head "thank you but its fine, do you see yours often?"
