"It's SNOWING!" A young girl, about the age of seven, pressed her face against the window of her family's cabin. She had a big smile on her face and her blonde hair, still sticking up all over the place from sleep, flopped everywhere, "IT'S SNOWING, IT'S SNOWING, IT'S SNOWING!" She jumped down off of the windowsill and ran around the living room carpet, "HANS! Hans wake up!!!!"
She ran into the small bedroom and took a flying leap onto the bed. There was a grunt and someone rolled over under the covers, "Aliannah, go back to sleep. It's too early."
He was rewarded with a smack to the head and Aliannah huffed indignantly, "I wanna go outside and play! Play with me, Hans!" Hans sighed and sat up, glaring at his little sister. Her blue eyes went round and she jutted her bottom lip out. His glare faltered and Hans sighed, "...Fine. Go get your boots on."
Ten Years Later
"Hans, it's snowing!" Aliannah stared out the window the same way she always did when it began to snow. Now, at the age of seventeen, she wasn't a child anymore, but nothing could get her excited the way snow could.
"You act like such a child sometimes, Ali," Hans muttered as he added more wood to the fire. He was used to his little sister's excitement by now, though he, at twenty-four, was not so thrilled by the snow. Cold always meant sickness and death.
Aliannah rolled her bright eyes and placed her chin in the palm of her hand as she watched the snow fall, "And you act like a grumpy old man anymore. It's snow! What's not to love?" She sighed dreamily and jumped up, pulling on her boots and heavy jacket.
"Don't stay out too long!" Hans yelled as he watched his little sister run out into the woods, giggling like a little girl.
