Once they were inside, Ezekiel closed the door behind them. He cleared his throat and moved over to his desk, brushing over the plush rug in the center of the room. He opened one of the drawers and rifled through it, searching, "I only found a couple of other sources and information. It's not much, so don't go getting your hopes up again, Blondie."
Colden only nodded, his blue eyes growing heavy and serious for once. In the dimly lit room, shadows danced across the Shadowhunter's face, the illumination making him look edgy.
Alexander blinked in confusion, watching Ezekiel while also looking around the room in intrigue. Again? So... Colden had been here before? Things just got more complicated... He sighed inwardly.
"I've asked for Ezekiel's help, Xander," Colden turned to his parabatai, eyes shining, "He's been helping me track down the demon that murdered my parents,"
Alexander blinked in surprise at the new information, lips parting. Several emotions flashed across his blue eyes. Anger, happiness, relief, sadness, sympathy, confusion. "...how? I mean, how is finding them going to solve anything?"
"Because I hate the fact that this demon is still alive, hurting others just as it did my parents, and nothing has happened. It deserves a punishment," The shining turned to darkness and a muscle in Colden's jaw twitched as he ground his teeth together.
Ezekiel made no comment other than a slight hum in the back of his throat, pulling out a few pieces of paper.
Alexander blinked while registering it, looking down at the shag carpeted floor. "...Okay. I'll help. So long as you don't end up doing anything stupid...er."
"As I said before, don't go thinking this will have all the answers, Blondie," Ezekiel warned the Shadowhunter, closing the drawer and bringing the papers over to them, "I don't have all the time in the world to look into this for you. I'm a busy man and my world doesn't revolve around just you, Colden Ravenscar."
As Colden took the papers, he frowned slightly, "You know I go by Blackthorn now."
Alexander continued to gaze around the room, though when he heard Colden being called by a different last name, he shifted uncomfortably. He hadn't even thought of Colden as having a different last name as him in... well, a long time.
The warlock shrugged, "You're a Ravenscar no matter what name you go by. I think I'll just call you who you are. He's a Blackthorn," he gestured to Alexander with one hand, "You're not. Not by blood."
Alexander blinked for perhaps the umpteenth time that night, and not because it was his body's reflex. It was purely in confusion, or shock, or rage. But right now he was just creeped out. How did this guy know his name? Then again... He really didn't want to know the answer to that question... It may freak him out more than the general knowledge did.
Colden just gripped the papers a little tighter and shrugged, "Yes, I know. I'm not ashamed of my family name. It's just easier to go by Blackthorn." His blue eyes flickered over to Alexander for a moment.
Ezekiel blew out a sigh, but then smiled, "You're lucky I like you, Blondie. Most of the time I wouldn't tolerate guys like you."
Alexander lifted his gaze to look at Colden, relieved by the answer though he wasn't sure why. He had a crush on his parabatai for a long while now -- shouldn't he wish that they weren't technically 'related' so that he could have a little bit more of a chance? Even though he knew to love his partner was a basic sin to the Clave... He grimaced slightly in annoyance at that thought and turned to continue and look at the surroundings.
Alexander hummed and sat on the edge of a chair precariously, though he seemed completely content at not being comfortable in this place. Nervousness seemed to flow from his being like another aura and he continued to gaze around.
Ezekiel didn't sit, however, choosing to lean back against the wall. He crossed his arms over his lithe chest and watched Alexander with curious eyes, "Your so nervous, little Shadowhunter. Never been this far out of your element before?"
Alexander looked up at the cat-like Warlock and hummed, continuing to look around in order to avoid the slight blush that was growing on his cheeks. "Mm, it's not my choice to be at the Downworld scene."
"No, I suppose not, though I do have a few Nephilim in here occasionally. Blondie included, though he seems to blend in quite well. You don't seem much the type," He cocked his head to the side and ran his tongue over his bottom lip as he smiled, "Though I must admit, you look quite adorable when you blush."
Xander fidgeted a bit more in embarrassment, the blush rising to his cheekbones and deepening in color. He looked over at his parabatai as if pleading for him to finish whatever he was doing so they could get out of there.
Colden's concentration was on the papers alone as he sat hunched, eyes moving back and forth rapidly. It was the most concentrated he'd ever been, which only proved how seriously he took this. But Alexander's gaze seemed to draw him out of his trance and he slowly looked up, meeting Xander's anxious eyes, "We can go," he suggested after a moment. There was no reason he couldn't read the papers back at the Institute.
Ezekiel, after smirking, shrugged, "Do what you want. I'll let you know when I come across anything more."
Alexander immediately leapt up. "Okay!" He skittered over to his parabatai's side like a frightened cat before remembering where he was and trying to regain his cool facade.
