My job??? I've barely met this girl, and now it's my job to comfort her??? You people are mad! He thought furiously, unfurling his wings with an indignant snap sound and taking off into the sky.
He huffed, snuggled into her. But she broke away from him, shoved against him, lifted her body. Stared after Jacob. "We need to head out." Her voice was gruff, low.
Very well. He uncurled off the ground, lifted himself off of the ground and flew into the sky for a moment. He rarely got to fly, and he missed it, but he landed beside Elena and curled onto her wrist.
Jacob ignored the call. He wasn't far off, although he was above the cover of the clouds. He soared, letting the pure freedom of flying set him loose for a moment before descending back to earth with a scowl.
"Very well." Her voice was still cool, and her eyes matched her tone. She turned, started to walk. "We're heading back East. There's something I need to see."
When she turned, Jacob rolled his eyes. Why was it his responsibility to take care of some chick he had just met? He took off again and followed after her, circling when she became too slow.
She kept herself under control until they reached the meadow. Her meadow. She bent on one knee, her elbow resting on it, her eyes sober. God, she had missed this place.
"Don't enter. You are not of Daragon and it will kill you to enter. So don't."
She closed her eyes, dipped her head. Her dragon appeared off her blade, hunched over her back, wings spread to protect her from sight.
A few moments later, Elena lifted her body. She was glowing, literally, with a pulsing blue light emanating from her body, tattoos glowing down the skin you could see. It was... Beautiful, stunning. Her voice was low, soft, silky and sexy. "What I did not tell you was that I am a High Priestess." She stalked closer to the tree, touched it with her fingertips. "Do you know what that means?"
"I help find, rehabilitate, and nurture all of the water elementalists on Daragon."
She smiled up at him. Her dragon stepped up to her, offered his back. She climbed on with careless grace, and they lifted up until she was even with Jacob. "You can enter the meadow now, without fear."
They touched the ground again and Elena lifted her body off the dragon. He disappeared in a light puff of blue smoke. "Why do you treat me like this, Jacob? This place is sacred to me and mine."
"Why do you and your dragon think that it's my responsibility to comfort you when I only just met you yesterday?" he said, whirling around to face her. "I don't think that's quite fair!"
"I never said anything about comfort!" Her back straightened, her eyes hardened, and her legs stretched forwards as she stepped up to him, their chests brushing. She was a single inch shorter than him and loathed him for it.
"I said respect. I do not take responsibility for my dragon's actions - you will have to talk to him about that on your own. This place! It's sacred."
Jacob glared down at her. "I never asked to be put on this crazy train," he growled. "I'm leaving!" He walked a little ways away and unfurled his wings. He took a running start through the trees and leaped into the air.
Sometimes, it's better to run. Others, you're just supposed to stay still. So she stayed still, stock still, with her lips throbbing from need to be touched with Jacob's.
Elena had known the day that she had come that this boy was her mate, the High Priest to her Priestess. Why? Why this defiant Fire user? She shook her head, leaned against Aqua, pressed her face into the soft feathers just under his jaw. Why?
The dragon nuzzled her shoulder lightly, shrugged large shoulders. That, I do not know.
Jacob soared higher and higher into the wispy clouds in front of the moon. His silhouette was visible darkly against the brightness of the moon before a cloud concealed him from sight. He literally breathed fire out of his mouth, though it wasn't hot enough or large enough to do any damage to anything. What was with this girl? Hadn't he done enough by simply trusting her? He saw now that it was always better to stick to your lonesome ways.
Someone teleported to just in front of Elena, and her blade was drawn and against the persons' throat before she could even blink, even think of an alternate reaction. The person in front of her was her sister. "Dahai!" She threw the blade down, where the dragon picked it up and sheathed it in the little section of scales on his chest.
"Elena, I have missed you so." The older, more stunning woman hugged Elena hard. How could they be sisters when Elena was blonde, blue-eyed, pale, slim and slender as a willow? This girl - woman - was thicker-set, though not fat. Tanned, freckled, with shamelessly thick, pink lips, bright green eyes and ebony hair. They were sisters of heart, of Priestesshood, and not of blood.
"Why have you come from Daragon? It must have taken..." She paused, counted. "Thousands of years for you to have reached here, particularly here."
"I caught your scent, noticed your thoughts." Dahai shrugged, stepped back and tied her hair into a loose bun at the nape of her neck that left curls at her cheeks. "I noticed, Elena, that yor scent is not alone. And this one is male, and is your mate."
