Serena shrugged, rubbing the back of her neck. "I...think so. Killigan kept me occupied most of the time, so I didn't have a chance to look around," she admitted, "though it's worth a try."
"Okay- come on," Alianna said. She knew that their trek downstairs would take them past the entrance and also past the prince's apartments but that was a risk they had to take. Alianna grabbed a pair of shoes and a shawl that she'd been given and hurried to the staircase down to the kitchen.
Serena followed after her, hopping from one foot to the next, as she tried to tug on her shoes. She almost tripped a couple of times, in her haste, though with her reflexes, she caught herself just in time. "Do you know where it is?" Her servant whispered, jogging after her.
"We can find it- I won't be caught by him. If we can't find it, we can escape through the kitchen exit," Alianna whispered back. When they reached the kitchen, Alianna started looking around. She moved a large rug and saw a hook for a door. "Here it is!"
Serena nodded, as they reached the kitchen. She understood why, even if she hadn't been one of the people they had wanted to capture. Letting out a sigh, she rubbed her hands together. "That was sure lucky," she grunted, bending down and starting to pull at the hidden door.
With their combined strength, Alianna and Serena were able to open the door. Alianna shooed the other girl into the hole, knowing that she would rather get captured than let her friend get captured. She crawled down after Serena and closed the door quickly. At that moment she heard a loud knock on the front door of the castle.
Serena stiffened, her breath coming out in short bursts. They had just made it in time, she relaxed against the wet wall, pushing a piece of her hair out of her eyes. "Come on, let's keep going," she whispered, running her fingers along the wall, to give her at least a small idea of where they were headed.
Alianna nodded and conjured the smallest of flames in her hand to light their way. She found that they were in a tunnel that seemed as though it was headed downwards.
"Well, at least it doesn't seem to be leading us up to Threuss," Serena said, trying to joke around. Though her voice cracked in nervousness and she quieted.
Threuss scowled at the door, banging on it again. His men had scattered, to try and find secret places for them to enter and leave. So far, they had found nothing, though he could feel deep down that there must be at least one secret entrance.
Threuss grinned at him. "You must be one of the servants, no?" He asked, snapping his fingers. Someone suddenly tried to smack something hard down on Killigan's head, trying to knock him unconscious. "I have a need for your intelligence of this place."
Threuss grin grew, as he crossed his hands over his chest. "My good man, there is nothing you can do now." It seemed as though his men seemed to appear out of the shadows, as they rushed him, trying to quiet him.
Killigan struggled against the men. "I'll tell you whatever you want to know! I will!" he said desperately. Despite his burly looks, Killigan was a huge coward.
