Vessa rolled her eyes and strode in front of Annonel. She silently cursed herself for being caught by the elf although nothing could be done about it now. Her golden eyes flickered about taking everything in. Perhaps Thranduil would know her lineage although she doubted it. Vessa's mother always told her that their great ancestors story was forgotten along with their curse. Vessa held in a sigh, the faster she got this over with the better.
Annonel drove the girl on towards the throne chamber, where King Thranduil was sitting. Annonel dropped to one knee respectfully. "Grandfather, I have caught this human on our lands. She says she is hunting orcs." The King watched the girl with cunning, ice-blue eyes.
Vessa followed suit and dropped to a knee waiting to be told to rise. She disliked royalty but knew how to present herself in front of them. She especially disliked elvish royalty although it was the dwarves that really lite the fire in her belly.
Thranduil gestured for his granddaughter to rise and then gazed at the human. "Is it true, mortal? Were you hunting orcs? Or were you hoping to get slaughtered by one of my people?"
Vessa resisted an eye roll. She was tired of being called a mortal, it sent shivers down her back. She raised her head to look up at Thranduil her eyes looking like liquid gold. "I was truly hunting orcs. If I was hoping to be killed by one of your people I would of attacked this elf."
Annonel took a step forward. "Your Highness, I have seen their tracks in the forest. If I may-" the king cut her off with a simple gesture. "What is your name, human?"
Vessa glanced at Annonel for the briefest of moments. "My name is Vessa." she paused for a moment, almost like she was hesitant to tell him her last name. "Vessa Drago. That is my name your highness."
Thranduil watched her. "I have heard of your family. You are like the rangers of the north," he said shrewdly, standing slowly and gracefully. "I will permit you to drive the orc-filth out of my borders and do with them what you will once there. I will send my granddaughter Annonel here with you," he continued. "She will make sure you do what you are permitted and only that." Annonel looked thrilled.
(quick question. I totally forget how to make a post on here. How would I do that?)
Vessa did her best not to let out a visible sigh of relief. He didn't know of the curse. Although some part of her wished he did, perhaps he would know some information on how to break it, although that was very unlikely. "Yes your highness." was all she responded as she rose to her feet. She wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.
(Haha you go to the board on which you want to make a post and there should be a button on the right that you press to make a post.
Annonel turned and walked out of the throne hall, expecting the human to follow. She still had her bow but she took her blade from the rack in the weapons room on the way and attached it to her belt. She then led the way out the front door of the Halls. "You lead the way, O great tracker."
Vessa followed behind Annonel impatiently. She disliked elves and this encounter was not making things better. Ignoring Annonel's remark she glanced around the surronding area once outside the keep. "they were heading north. I was going to cut them off, although I do not know if that is still possible due to lost time." she gave Annonel a pointed look. Her golden eyes almost looking reptilian.
The elf glared, her eyes looking like sharded ice. "If you can jog swiftly enough to keep up we could still cut them off. Orcs are stupid but they have good senses of smell and so we have to stay downwind."
Vessa grinned "I can keep up" she said. There was a small glint of humor in her eyes. "Staying downwind will be no problem and when we catch up I have a small surprise for them." her grin turned into a chilling smirk. "Shall we, elfling?" she said with a mock bow.
Annonel growled and pulled out her bow, not yet getting an arrow. "Just try to keep up," she muttered, trotting ahead without another word. She was very swift, her long legs carrying her a great distance with a single step.
Vessa smirked and took off after her. She has no problem keeping up with Annonel and also staying quite. She was swift and graceful, almost like she wasn't even human. Vessa stayed quite her sharp eyes searching the surrounding area. Today had been an odd day and was probably going to get even stranger.
Annonel's sharp eyes caught sight of the orc pack before they were too close. The wind was about to shift and so she sidled to the side of the orcs, where the wind was blowing from them to Annonel. "I will climb a tree and take some of them out," she said quietly as she began to pull ahead of the orcs. She could smell them from here. She pulled out an arrow and carefully took aim at the leader's head.
Vessa nodded and quickly glanced at Annonel. "I'm going to announce my presence. Leave the leader alive until the end, i need to interrogate him." with a quick grin she headed off towards the orc pack. Not caring if they could smell her or not. She was close enough to take most, if not all of them out. Throwing knives appeared in her hand as she prepared for battle. When the orcs smelled her they stopped and started shouting and talking to each other. The leader barking out orders. Vessa paused at the edge of the forest clearing where they were located and smiled. "long time no see." she hissed in their language before letting a throwing knife fly.
Annonel quickly shot three of them, their howls of pain bringing a small smile to her lips. She notched another arrow to the string and shot another, careful not to his Vessa. As there weren't many left, she rested and allowed Vessa to take the rest out.
Vessa twirled and dodged blow after blow. Using a dagger to reflect their hits then spinning close and slitting their throats or throwing a knife clean threw their neck or eyes. It was all like an elegant dance which brought a cold smile to her lips. Finally the only one left was the leader. She smirked and threw a few knives at him, pinning him to a nearby tree. "you will tell me what I want to know." she growled as she approached him.
Annonel watched as she jumped down from the tree, picking her arrows out of the necks and heads of five or six orcs. She cleaned them and then put them back in her quiver- she almost never had time to make new arrows.
