To every evil, there is always a good. The Illuminati not only also live in Italy, they have powers too. But instead of killing and stealing, their job is to put an end to the crimes of the thieves. They do a fine job of keeping their powers a secret, but if a thief is spotted, they must do none other than to attack. Although they don't seem like very violent beings, they can be.
