"The king...ordered it to replace the..uh...euro was it?" Ixom slowly said, wincing at his lie. Man, he really needed to get better at this.

"No, he didn't," Dani said, smiling. "Come on. Tell me where you're really from. I won't tell." She paused, considering her next words. What she wanted to say could either help her or do irreparable harm. She lowered her voice and said, "Are you from Faerie or something?"

Ixom grimaced and rubbed the back of his neck. Yeesh...he knew that that lie was going to fall flat sooner or later. It was sooner, apparently. "I'm from my realm, it doesn't have a name, since I didn't think it needed one," he truthfully said. He bristled at the next words, frowning down at her. "No, I am not one of those tricksters, I am a part of the demon race."

Dani's eyes went wide. Demon? Okay, that had not been what she was expecting. She took an involuntary step back. "A... demon?"

He tilted his head to the side, studying her. "Well...yes. I am a demon," he said slowly, a little taken aback at how calmly she was taking this. Usually people slapped him if they heard what he said.

Dani was torn between being frightened and being excited that she'd actually found one of them. A demon! A creature that wasn't human! "What kind of demon are you?" she asked. She'd heard they came in groups, like demons of seduction (also known as incubi or succubi), demons of greed, etc.

OK, seriously. What was this girl's problem? He frowned at her, trying to figure her out. She didn't seem like she would run away from him, though at the same time, he was worried that she would be holding a small can of that pepper stuff. That always stung. "I am Ixom, demon of seduction," he said grandly, giving her a sweeping bow.

Dani's eyes widened. Okay, that kind of got her heart pounding. She was talking to a demon of seduction? For the first time, she realized how good looking he was. It was kind of sad it had taken that long. Maybe it was because she'd never had any experience in the realm of love, or lust. She was a pup talking to the alpha wolf. "So, you... you... sleep around a lot." It sounded like the dumbest thing once it was out of her mouth, and she blushed bright red.

Hm. Maybe he shouldn't have said that. Well, at least she hadn't slapped him. That was a start. He put his hands behind his head, a little discouraged they were talking about his love life. "Sometimes," he admitted, "though I find it a bit trifling. I mean, this world-" A large grin broke across his face, as he gestured around the place, "-this is more exciting then sex. You little humans always amaze me what you're doing." He ended with a chuckle, gazing at the people who were walking by, with a large grin, as if he had created them.

Dani winced at the word 'sex.' Yeah, she was definitely different. Nineteen and she'd never even kissed a boy. "Humans," she murmured, still amazed. He wasn't human. She studied him, his youthful face. "How old are you?"

He sighed and looked at her. "Of all the questions to ask, you ask for my age?" He asked wearily. He was quiet for a moment, before he finally replied, "Three thousand, and still young!"

"I was expecting you to add a 'dude' after that statement," she said with a laugh. He probably would even get the reference.

He blinked at her, tilting his head to the side. "I do not understand...," he said slowly, his eyebrows knitting together in confusion. "I am not, as you say, 'surfer dudes'."

Dani shook her head, a smile on her face. "Never mind. You said you need a place to stay, but there's no way those coins will buy you a motel room."

"They won't?" Ixom frowned, looking a little disappointed. "These are the only coins I have," he added with a grimace. "I didn't think the human world would be so picky about money..."

Dani smiled. "The human world is picky about everything." Could she offer to let him stay at her house? Surely that would be a horrible idea. Her father probably wouldn't care but... did she really want an incubus sleeping in the same house as her?

Ixom snorted. "I could tell, last time I was here no one really cared what kind of coins I had." He shrugged and continued. "I must be getting old..." Clearing his throat, he rocked on the back of his heels. "So...er....do know of a place I could sleep? I know the coppers won't exactly like it if I sleep in the park though..."

Dani laughed. "Coppers?" She smiled and shook her head. "You are old. And no, they probably wouldn't like that."
