Ixom let out a sigh, leaning back against his chair, his cheek against his palm.  Wow he was bored.  There had been no visitors today, not like they would visit him necessarily, and he was about to go just a little bit insane from the quietness in his realm.  The demon drummed his fingers on chair's arm, sighing louder.  He glanced at the door, though when no poked their ugly head around it, he leaned his head back against the chair, sighing even louder.  Still no answer.  Ixom suddenly got up, muttering under his breath about how incompetent his minions were.  He strolled over to the door and peeked around it.  Surprise, surprise.  It was dead quiet.  It seemed as though everyone had left.

Grumbling now, he walked out of his room and put his hands behind his back, peering around the large room.  He could now go to the Earth.  It would definitely be more entertaining than being down here.  The demon rocked on his heels, whistling cheerily, and snapped his fingers, disappearing from the awful jail he called his domain.  He appeared in a dark alleyway and he quickly snapped his fingers again, grimacing.  His horns slowly lowered into his head and he winced.  That still hurt even after a hundred years...


He strolled out of the alleyway, chuckling to himself.  Oh what adventure would come his way now...?

"I'll see you tomorrow!" Dani called as she left the store. She worked at the mall, in Aeropostale. The other girl working didn't even bother to reply. Most people who knew her at all didn't like to talk to her. It didn't seem to bother her. She went straight home and logged onto her computer, opening her favorite website. "The Mystic," it was called. She replied to her messages from friends--who happened to be her only friends, since she had none in real life--and then browsed the forum. Someone posted something about seeing a faerie. She wrote that one off as a joke. The person went on and on about how the faerie (which, by the way, he spelled "fairy") had sucked his life force away. Anyone who knew anything about faeries knew that wasn't possible.

She did find a story about a werewolf, though. The full moon had been two nights ago, and there was usually an influx of werewolf posts afterward. Those always interested her the most. She scanned the first few lines of about twenty of them, bookmarking the ones that seemed interesting to come back to later. By the time she was done, it was nearing six o'clock, so she went upstairs to make herself, and her father, some dinner.

Just another day in the life of Dani Evans. Nothing ever seemed to change.

Ixom's strolled down the strolled, his hands in his pockets. Oh how good it felt to be out in the people's world! This wasn't an everyday occurrence for him, mind you; he had been forced to stay in his domain for a good portion of the human year, something about freaking out the women. Though finally, he was free! What was there not to like about this place? It was loud, full of people, and always alive. He stood at one of the corners, just smelling the air, a large grin on his face. Hey, even the demon of seduction could have a break every now and then, it wasn't all about having sex with other people.

Dani called her father down to eat. Once the kitchen was clean, she headed out for her afternoon walk. She liked to get a bit of gentle exercise in everyday. Plus, it helped her clear her mind and think. She always had a lot to think about. She wandered through Brooklyn, making sure to keep to the less questionable areas of the borough, though that was hard when you lived in one of those questionable areas. The sight of someone standing at a corner just ahead made her pause. The was something... off about him.

She wasn't the only one who thought that something was a little off about this guy. People were staring at him while they walked, whispering to their companions, laughing at him. Though Ixom didn't seem to notice, he seemed even happier now that people were starting to stare at him. He even grabbed a random guy's hand and shook it vigorously. "Wonder evening, isn't it?" The demon chirped, before walking away, leaving the guy staring after him.

Dani watched him curiously before crossing the street. She gave him a friendly smile, even though his eyes made her want to cringe. Yeah, there was definitely something off about him. "Hi," she said.

Ixom turned around to face her and gave her a big grin. "Hello, hello! It's a great evening, isn't it?" He said, looking a little too into this.

Dani resisted the urge to recoil. "You lost or something?" she asked. "You don't look like you belong around these parts."

"Hmm? Lost anything, oh no! I'm just enjoying this beautiful evening," he said, sweeping his arms around, like it was so silly for her to think otherwise.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Mmm-hmm," Dani said. She was starting to think she'd been wrong about him. He wasn't some kind of magical being; he was just a crazy person.

"Is something wrong?" He asked, blinking at her, his excitement stuttering a little, "you keep staring at me?" He patted his cheeks, wondering if he had something on his face.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"No, nothing," Dani said, giving a faint smile. He wouldn't be the first loon she'd met in her life. "I think I'll just be going now. Have a nice evening."

"Oh wait! Don't go! I'm actually a little lost, to tell you the truth," Ixom said, grabbing onto her arm.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Dani glanced back in surprise. "Okay," she said cautiously. "How can I help?"

"Well...I kind of...sort of need a place to stay. Do you know where I could exchange this into human money?" He asked, digging through his pocket. He brought out a couple of coins. They were all rusted, with faint symbols on it.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"Umm..." Dani stared at the coins in his hand. She'd never seen anything like it. "No, sorry. Is it... uh, gold?"

Ixom blinked at her and then stared down at the coins, his eyebrows pressing together. "Er...maybe...?" He said slowly, not even knowing himself.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

Dani couldn't help but smile. "Where did you get those anyway? They look ancient."

"They are?" He asked, blinking down at them. He had never actually thought of them being that old, just a little rusty that was all. "I use them everyday, it's common currency from where I come from," Ixom said, pocketing them.

[ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟғʀᴏsᴛ]

"And... where's that?" she asked. Yeah, this guy was definitely insane. Except... those coins were real. Her heart picked up. Was he possible? Had she found one?
